how did the mods combine the threads? :Q 😕

There's quite a few forums that have the technology to do that. It's not surprising that FuseTalk can do that as well.

but have you seen them do it before? i don't recall this happening before

Weird!

Metallica went from a band that just flat out didn't give a sh!t about anything to become a bunch of money grubbing, commercialized sellouts. Load didn't even bother me all that much, but when you see them going after people for downloading their songs when they already have more money they can spend, that just goes to show where their priorities are.

Listen to Master of Puppets, then listen to St.Anger and realize just how wrong it sounds.

The album or the song? Master of Puppets had a few bad songs close to St. Anger quality. Of course, St. Anger is still much worse, but Ride the Lightning and Kill 'em All are better examples of how great Metallica used to be.

MOP didn't have any bad songs, what are you smoking?

Master of Puppets?

Ride the Lightning?

😕

The Thing That Should Not Be was an abomination, being slow and repetitive. Disposeable Heroes repeats itself so much that it could have been four minutes and not be cut short. Leper Messiah is completely unmemorable. Damage Inc had a boring intro and the rest of the song was unmemorable as well.

Blasphemy. Those songs you mentioned kick ass. Nothing good since RtL? What about And Justice for All? That's one of their best CDs.

What song is bad in Master of Puppets?

Battery? Nope.
Master of Puppets? Hell no.
The THing that Should not be? Nope. Awesome heavy song with an awesome solo and Lovecraft Lyrics
Sanitarium? One of their best songs overall, still a staple of live shows
Disposable Heroes? Great Lyrics, chugging riffs
Leper Messiah? Perhaps the weakest in the album, but still good. Quirky riffs are great
Orion? If you call this song bad then what can possibly be good?
Damage Inc.? Arguably their heaviest, thrashiest song. It just rocks, period.

'Bad' and Master of Puppets don't go together.

I understand you might like Ride the Lightning better(a matte of opinion, after all), but you have to admit: Master of Puppets is one of the best, most important and influencial albums in the history of metal (sharing that spot with Megadeth's Rust in Peace). And saying that any song in that album is of St. Anger quality is, no offense, nonsense.

The band still sounds a bit green in Ride the Lightning and specially in Kill 'em all. MoP was their creative and musical peak. AJFA still has a lot of greatness, but some of the longer songs sound a bit tired.

It all went downhill with the Black Album and its radio-friendlyness (though it DOES have some good songs and riffs).

And Justice for All had four good songs (the title track, One, To Live is to Die, and The Eye of the Beholder) and the rest were either generic thrash or plagued with a lack of bass guitar and a horrible drum sound. Just listen to the *TAP* *TAP* *TAP* in the beginning of Blackened. Totally weak.

As I said before, The Thing That Should Not Be and Disposable Heroes were both far too repetitive and Leper Messiah and Damage Inc were both too generic and unmemorable. Battery, Master of Puppets, Sanatarium, and Orion are all awesome however. The Black Album defenitely had it's problems, and the only song that was any good is Don't Tread on Me.

Don't forget Dyers Eve, one of the best guitar solos of all time in that song.

Granted...And Justice for All is terribly produced. Even Lars admited once that it sounds like they recorded it inside a matchbox.
That doesn't mean the songs (and the album) are bad. Most of the songs (with perhaps the exception of the Frayed ends of Sanity) are staples of contemporary metal, and most of the real metal bands of today (like Meshuggah) are always quick to point out that the album was one of their major influences.

Badly produced kick ass songs (AJFA) >>>>>>>>> Uberproduced radio friendly trash (Everything post Load)

Justice was the beginning of the end for Metallica. They began to go downhill from the moment Burton was killed.

Here's the truth about Metallica: if you don't remember a time when Metallica wasn't on MTV or even the radio (except for the original Zrock), then you don't remember Metallica. There are literally 2 different bands -- pre-airplay and post-airplay.

They still throw great concerts. I've only been able to see them once, during the Load Tour w/corrosion of conformity. They didn't play many songs from Load, so it kicked ass 🙂

It would be ok, but the "Dear mother dear father" lyrics are annoying, and if the song was slow it might as well be emo. The way it just cuts off at the end was pretty lame as well.

I agree that production means nothing if the songs themselves suck, but Ride the Lightning got both of those right. It would be awesome if they did remaster (or whatever you call it) the And Justice album.

Sad but True...no pun intended 😛

Their first 4 albums are great enough to make up for any post-AJFA mediocrity, though.

Are you talking about the solo that runs from about 3:37 to 4:23? That's cool but not that particularly amazing.
