Oh fuck that. Respect the rank? They don't, why should we? For Christ's sake, these people are our employees, not our bosses. Treat them like a king, and they'll rule like one.

Shaking a person's hand is treating them like a king? It's treating them like a fellow human being!

Keep thinking like a bitter, small, little person and you will remain one for the rest of your life.

Oh I'd be polite if he came over and introduced himself, but I saw him I'd say "oh look there's obama. Wonder what he's having." As for the rest I'm his boss just like you.

When we have a president who acts "like a fellow human being," I'll shake his/her hand.

Keep thinking like a bitter, small, little person and you will remain one for the rest of your life.

Pardon me, but of all people here, you are the very last person who should describe another member as a "bitter, small, little person," perhaps for reasons best not mentioned.

I'd shake his hand the same way I'd shake any man's hand if they offered it to me, just out of respect. What comes after that is another thing.....you know, like wiping my hand on the table cloth after the person is out of sight, or disinfecting my hand if I saw them coughing into theirs before extending it my way...stuff like that.:p

Main dishes were mostly in the $20s (although some were less). Appetizers were $8 to $44. Drinks were $7-$14. Deserts were $8.25. Table for four came out to $280 after tip. It was pricey but not that bad considering what I just paid in Paris restaurants for lesser meals.

You make a good argument for increasing taxes.

No, he doesn't. Having a $280 bill for four not be a big deal is small potatoes our society can easily tolerate in inequality.

It's the massive inequity and concentration of wealth that moves our society towards plutocracy, incompatible with democracy, reducing opportunity and prosperity for 98%+ of the people, creating an economic tyranny, that is the good argument for increasing taxes, but is so little understood by most citizens.

When one billionare can equal tens of millions of citizens in influence, with our massive propaganda infrastructure to spread right-wing ideology and indoctrinate citizens.

Together, my wife and I are solidly upper-middle class on an income basis for most years (two engineers). But, this year was a particulary good year for us as I sold a patent and two provisional patents. And yes, we've paid a lot of taxes. I certainly wouldn't like paying more taxes, but I would understand the need. Although, by next year, we'll be back to middle class salaries for the forseeable future.

I would have got up and walked out , If he extended his hand to me I lol in his face

You know... as Al Franken and Bill Maher have said over and over, people that hate them the most and think they would have that "walk away or laugh in your face" reaction in reality end up melting with respect and friendliness when face to face.
Yeah you'd no doubt would have in reality giggled, shook hands, offered to buy his dinner, then cried like a little girl after your awesome encounter with Obama.

When I've met people like David Frum, I made a point not to buy his book, and wait until the people who did had theirs signed, and then asked him if he could relate to David Brock, who was a right-wing propagandist whore (I didn't use that language) and came to realize how wrong he was for it, to point out to Frum he could benefit from doing the same.

Frum did not seem to get the point.

When I talked to Kevin Phillips, who I think highly of for his work for years now but who played a terrible role in helping to end the liberal era from FDR to LBJ by helping Nixon defeat Humphrey, I asked him if, as he has changed his understanding of the right-wing agenda, he feels guilty for his role. Unfortunately, he does not, somehow reconciling his support for Nixon as ok, while abhorring the later result.

Oh, I did go to the Richard Nixon library and make a point to use the urinal as a symbolic act.

You Al Franken and Bill Maher all all idiots if you think this way.

A hand shake is a sign of respect. How could you respect a person that walks all over you with no regard for your wishes. I wouldn't shake his hand either. That goes for Al Franken, Bill Maher, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer and many many other self proclaimed elite ass wipes.

You have zero credibility here as you are one of the most vindictive, demeaning, and insulting people on this forum. Follow your own advice or I fear you will continue to be the bitter, small, little person you act like here for the rest of your life.
