Obama at a fancy Chicago restaurant while we're at 10% unemployment? Typical. He even has a private chef and buys organic food. You'll never see this man eat instant noodles or from a cambels soup can.

I may be wrong, but I think it's safe to assume you won't find any sitting President doing that, except in private, so we wouldn't know anyway. But he did grow up in Hawaii, and, growing up in this state, it's common for kids, especially high school kids, to eat instant noodles uncooked straight out of the package after sprinkling the soup base on it, and cooking campbell's soup over the stove in the can it came in, so more than likely, he did do what you described.

edit - Oh wait...I need to ask just in case...you weren't being sarcastic....were you? ;)

No you don't. Hacp is just a bloody imbecile.

To the OP, that's pretty cool. In my 3rd year of college, I lived around the corner from Obama, though I never saw him out on the street or anything. They actually blocked my street off on election night too.

I may lose a bet about the number of senate seats lost, so I may be gone from Anandtech for a month. But, at least I had a positive thing. So, I'm making this brag thread.

I took a weekend trip to Chicago and wanted to eat at Frontera Grill (ran by Rick Bayless from the PBS food show). It just happens to be a few blocks from Obama's home and a favorite of Obama. I didn't know he was in town, until he walked into the restaurant.

Politics aside, he was a nice guy. Shook everyone's hands. Here is a snapshot that I got of him. Obama looks like he is checking out my sister, but he is really reaching for my wife's hand (just off screen to the left).

Very cool

He was in town to make last minute push for Pat Quinn (Governor) and Alexis Gianoulious (Obama's old Senate seat)

Looks like they'll lose both as Illinois is turning Red in a sea of Red.
$14 billion in debt and rising fast.

He's one of the most average Presidents we've had. I sure am glad being a "nice guy" will get you into office.

average presidents passed healthcare reform?

He did it all by himself? Or he relied on giant majorities and tweaking of rules in the house and senate that didnt require a single vote from the opposition party?

Seems a chimp could have passed that bill

I wonder how the waiter reacted to finding out s/he would be serving the president that night.

"I said no tomato, miss."

"Please don't put me on a terror watch list!"

Bush reportedly dealt with this pre-9/11 when someone told him 'I'm disappointed, Mr. President' - Bush said to him, while keeping his big smile for the cameras:

'Who cares what you think?'

Of course he did. :rolleyes

He's not average. Up there with Reagan in so far as campaigner. Grade A personality and conveyance. As far as governance, he's doing what his wealthy benefactors and multinationals want him to just like the last guy.
