Yeah, let's speak out about something the entire country has already condemned. That's real courage. Not criticizing a famously petty and revenge-minded presidential elect

No, the entire country didn't condemn it. Also, since it happened in Chicago, which had a crazy high murder rate last year, she could have spoken about that. There is a considerable pool of wealth and clout in that room. Speaking out against the violence that is killing innocent husbands, wives, children, etc could have been spoken about? Or perhaps the fact that police have been shot and killed 56 percent higher than the year before while doing their job? 21 being killed by ambush attacks? But she didn't, because she doesn't appear to care, and fellow Hollywood/media types wouldn't have cheered and praised her for a calling for action to do better. Award shows have stuck to two main topics lately, attacking Trump and praising BLM. While Trump certainly does enough to warrant attacks and jokes about him, there are other issues out there. I've made Trump jokes, who hasn't really? I'm not excited about the next 4 years at all.

A cop was killed confronting a murderous thug this morning. Female, wife, mother or two, 17 years on the job. Currently CNN has it as their 8th topic. Under 4 different topics of the award show and comments back and forth. 8th. I think that's appalling personally. And he's still on the loose, armed and dangerous. But hey, bury it and don't make sure the people know he's out in their area because Trumps twitter is more important than a fucking life. Do you think it would have been the 8th topic if the cop was a white male and killed the criminal instead? I think we all know the answer to that.

I'm not saying she shouldn't or couldn't speak out. She had a forum to speak, she should be allowed to speak as she wishes. There are more problems we face. I just pointed out some hypocrisy. They do live in a bubble, but I suppose we all do. All live in various pockets of the world, things are rarely the same for everyone.

This is some serious concern trolling. Wall of text does 4d6 damage.

I hesitate to call Trump a celebrity. Not in the sense of being an "artist" like the conga line of singers and actors who endorsed Hillary.

Agreed, he is much more of a "con artist" than an "artist". This one of the few time we have agreed on something, cheers!

And yet Gibson, who is arguably worst than Trump, sits as a peer amongst them. And I am sure more than one celeb chatted Gibson up for what is ermerging as his directoral come back.

He makes good movies and is a good/great director imo, not the good person imo but atleast he's got some redeeming qualities, i've yet to see any in Trump.

I would say its statistically everyone. Unless you have proof otherwise. And I guess Trump is just one of those common man non-celebrities. /s

She has a right to say what she wants; so do you and I. If people want to watch, no skin off my a**. From the links I scanned, the ratings for the show were roughly the same (slightly above, but very significant) as last years, so it doesn't look like your beloathed Trump mattered one way or another. Anyway, I'm just one of those stuffy old farts that have no time for self-important attention-whores - irrespective of political affiliation. The Hollywood set are entertainers - nothing more. I have a certain fondness for artistic people; some of their quirks can be quite endearing. But I don't get off on people who let fame go to their head.

Uhmm, people pay attention to her by their own choice. Nobody is making anyone watch. And look, here you are commenting on her of your own volition.

I find awards shows stupid as well, but clearly millions and millions of people love them. I guess they must be doing something right, maybe people really enjoy watching them burn shitty people like Trump?

Nice try, but nowhere near close. She's certainly a good actress, but so what? Her opinion is no more (or less) important that anyone else's. If you want to pay for the chance to give her a rim job, go for it.

Oh, I guess that makes this easier for you, then.

I suppose I'm a victim of the difference between the definition of "celebrity" and the way the word gets used.

A celebrity by definition is simply a well known or famous person. By that definition there was no candidate for president who wasn't a celebrity.

The way i use the word, and I think others do too, is to describe the typical Hollywood elite. Beyonce, Clooney, Kardashian, people like Meryl Streep. A-list actors and such.

Yeah. If there's one thing that the 2016 election proved, it's how much people care about what celebrities think.
Yep, they care so much about what celebrities think that they voted one into the White House.

She looked so sad and angry just like all the other butthurt liberals over the election results.
unlike yours and drumpfs' shit eating grin. That's much more attractive.

Who I voted for is irrelevant to my opinion on this. I don't worship celebs and if someone had gone up there and reamed out Obama, I'd feel the same - though I'd be quite shocked given the political leaning of most in the Hollywood set. I've long lost track on how many times I've said that I'm not Trump fan on here. Kindly go search it out for me and let me know. :) But as I've dared to not wet myself with delight over her speech like the average lib, I'm suspected of being in love with the spawn of satan.

So, one more time. I'm not a worshiper of celebs of ANY EFFING political persuasion. I don't care. Just make movies and if I think it's worth watching, I'll go. Otherwise, I don't give a rat's fetid arse what said celeb thinks, what gender they think they are at any given moment, who, or what they're boinking, or what their favorite charity is. Their lives hold no fascination for me. I'm not jealous / envious of their lives. I want them to do what they do best - entertain - then go away and live their lives how they see fit. Yes, that may mean feeling free to spout off about whatever; so be it. Just don't expect me to be there pining over their every word.

Whatever. For the record, I agree with those that have said that Trump needs to stop reacting to this stuff.

I hesitate to call Trump a celebrity.
Then you're just flatly wrong. He was a television celebrity. He hosted (and still produces) a show with the word Celebrity right in the title.

Ask him if he's a celebrity if you're so unsure of his fitting the definition.
