Hey, I understand. I have a fructose sensitivity that thankfully is below the threshold of 'oops I had a little now I go to the hospital' but my GF has a rather obscene allergy to peppers, and not capsaicin but something in the skins, that wrecks her stomach if she has so much as a few flakes of bell pepper in her mexican food. It's unreal how many places make shit in advance, and HOW MUCH American cuisine has bell peppers when it's not even relevant.
My brother when he turned 40yr old, developed a corn allergy.

Was laid out on my couch for weeks. Took 2 months for them to figure out the kid that ate Doritos and Fritos full time, drank dark liquor with corn in it ect. Put him flat on his back puking to no end for months.

Can't have ANYTHING with corn in it. Almost as bad as a wheat allergy. Came out of nowhere at 40 yr old. Lost alot of weight due to it.

He should promote the “Allergy Diet”.

This should be the punishment to anyone who verbally or physically assaults a service worker. 6mo community service as a service worker. 40h weeks, 9-5.

I'm fine with shaming them online until fast food is the only job they can get. Then they can live with inconsistent schedules and trying to survive on having their hours slashed when they piss off their boss and never quite getting enough hours for benefits and so on. No one works fast food 9-5.

Dude is a fucking asshole, but misdemeanors shouldn't ruin someone's life forever. I think it's funny how many of the same people that want sentencing reform also want to end people's lives over misdemeanors.

His life is already going to get pretty fucked from losing his job and dealing with the courts, I personally never want to work with him, but I don't think he and his family should have to live under a bridge either.

Yes, pretty much this. We have become so politically polarized that every time there is a wrongdoer who either is, or is perceived as, being on the other side of our political fence, we support limitless retribution. Just like the Central Park Karen where people wanted her in prison but even the victim said she did wrong but should not be prosecuted. Others should take a page from his book. Not every offense which is politically tinged in some way is the worst thing a person can do.

She shouldn't be prosecuted for making a fake report to the police alleging someone was threatening her life? Bullshit, her ass should have gone to jail for that.

I think it would be incredibly hard to eat any prepared food in the US with a corn allergy. At least with wheat a lot of places have gluten free.

I know my brother with a corn allergy, and a kid my kids went to school with a wheat allergy. It's rough either way.

For sure, no disagreement. Still it gets incredibly tiresome having to say that at every single store or restaurant so I understand the shortcuts.
Seems to me if your kid has a severe allergy to peanuts and a smoothie place routinely puts peanuts in their smoothies, it's not wise to get your kid a smoothie there, particularly if you don't bother telling them that you're ordering for someone who could get really ill ingesting a peanut. This guy clearly is messed up... but look, the worst he did was verbally abuse those people, toss a drink at one and violate their space by going into their no-customers-allowed-zone. He fucked up badly. He needs therapy, it's clear to me. But he didn't bring a gun or AFAIK threaten further violence. He's been fired from his job, publicly shamed. I don't imagine he's feeling very smug.

That's what I'd like to know.
Hey, I made a smoothie the other day and put some PNB in it. I don't normally, I did on a lark, just a dab, but I could taste it. Usually my smoothies are super simple, but this time I threw in a few things I don't normally.

Dude was a dick. Place should also have prominent signage to the effect that " this equipment is used to process nuts or peanuts" as both a warning for folks and some legal recourse. You see it all the time with packaged foods. Peanut allergy is no joke.

At one time in my life I got addicted to this passionfruit smoothie I used to make out of haagen dazs vanilla ice cream, passion fruit syrup, a tiny smidgen of peppermint and vanilla bean extract, skim milk, loads of crushed ice and a tad of blended macadamia nut to taste. I gained over ten pounds just from slurping that delicious la bamba for months until I talked myself out of it. I could feel my arteries hardening every time I took a sip. So refreshing and dangerously addictive.

Counterpoint.
No it absolutely won't. It will not ruin his life forever. He'll find another job within weeks and probably end up making more at the new place.
He got fired from a job. He didn't lose his vision or get gang raped in a Columbian Cristian prison.
He'll spin some sad ass story about how he was being protective of his son and flipped out and then quickly point out his resume that he got his job done.
He probably already has another job lined up
It's investment banking.
They are all douches

Nobody is talking about ruining this guys life forever. I have no idea where you get that vibe from? Throwing someone in prison is completely different from a person destroying their own career.

Yea, his career is over, but that happens. That is hardly ruining his life forever. Nobody is calling for this man to be homeless or living under a bridge. There are many jobs for unskilled workers.

I am sure he will do well in his next job as a smoothie technician.

"He got arrested!!! His life is over!!!" - Man tells manager who secretly has multiple DUI's and was arrested for assault.

His career isn't over.
Not over something like this in his line of work at his age.

He got arrested and spent some time in a jail cell. He hasn't been convicted of anything and once you reach a certain point in your career, worrying about some 22 year old HR person flagging you for having your name in the news is not a major concern.
Reputational risk of hiring this guy is on a timer and that bell is going to ring exactly the 2 weeks it takes for everyone to stop caring about it.

He'll probably sue Merrill, win a settlement. Go on a nice vacation in Italy to "reset" and then land a job and some smaller firm. Spend a year there and plop down at another big firm.
He might even get invited to a few political rallies.

What a loser. Hope his career is ruined forever. I can guarantee you which party he votes for.

Seriously? Read the post I replied to and that you liked. He hoped he's career would be over "forever." Perhaps that's where I got the impression he wanted this guys life to be fucked over "forever." Considering that is exactly what he said.

Going from a finical advisor to minimum wage is ruining someone's established life. I also don't understand your idea that he doesn't deserve a professional job, but he can work an unskilled job. That implies that you think unskilled labor is less human than professional labor and they somehow deserve asshole coworkers.

I never said it would ruin his life forever. I was responding to the person that said it should. Maybe you all should read the quoted posts before taking my post out of context.

I said I think the current punishment is already enough. Losing your job, especially one where you have to build your own client book and paid on commissions on long time clients, is a big deal. Plus dealing with the courts for anything more than a parking ticket sucks. I doubt he'll get any real legal punishment though.

That does sound excellent! Reminds me of my last full time job. At one point I developed a habit of hitting Carls Jr. on my lunch hour and bringing back a couple of the spicy chicken sandwiches, an order of cross-cut fries and a chocolate shake. When my pants started getting tight I had to quit that.

That video. Wow. Throwing a smoothie at a teenage girl, the attempt at control by demanding they hang up the phone and the clear racism. I'm sure there are a lot more episodes like these in his personal life.
