:cookie: Welcome back from Christmas break. No computer at mommy and daddy's? We've missed your deep insight...

I thought I was still supposed to be in high school according to you. Which one is it? I think I've been away for longer than "Christmas break" though...

Now, using Infohawks method of "all the folks I've seen", a large portion of the folks I know from Public School turned out to be convicted felons - roughly 10% (rapists, murderers, drug dealers), Damn few went to college, a large portion dropped out, and an even larger portion are on public aid. But they are well-adapted felons, dropouts, and welfare recipients.

PS I'm sure Isla appreciates the compliment to her children.

You forgot this one, most recently in Texas

Here's a good old fashion quote from a Evangelistic Preacher,
"Their leader, Doyle Davidson, told them that the Water of Life Church has been flung into the spotlight and that God wanted them to seize the moment to spread the word of God."

"He is raising me up so the metroplex will know who I am," Mr. Davidson told his followers Sunday morning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I mentioned this linkage to 'Fund-A-Mentals' and Bible scripture after it first happened,
I caught the wrath of the Pro-Conservatives on this board who don't want thier little closed-minded
world upset - or they just might have to look at some truth for a change.

One thing for sure - the women are all mentally sick, and the Evangelicals prey on these people
for thier own benefit, whether it's the publicity or the notoriety, or the cash they give.

I won't question that there are people out there that abuse/misuse their religion. I think Fundamental Islam has mastered this. What's a riot is the liberals who broadly paint the entire population of Christians while totally ignoring the MUCH larger problem of fundamental islam. You're very familiar with what that is, it's bigotry...

"the women are all mentally sick"

Case in point...

So Captn, would you agree then with your logic that all islamic women that subjugate to men are also "mentally sick"?

So you have this little problem of comprehention ?
Where in any of this is there ANY reference to Islamic or another religion ?

. . . . or are you just trying to change the subject ?

I DON"T CARE WHAT THOSE RELIGIONS DO ! THAT"S THEIR BUSINESS NOT MINE OR YOURS.

This is about how the U.S. Fundamentist Religions prey on weak people and how those weak and
mentally unstable people seem to flock to that niche of mentality, and use it to justify their actions.

Do you really fell that threatened by some random woman in Iraq or Afganistan ?
Are you worried that the missing in the Tsunami raveged part of the Ilamic world
are after you ? Do you think that all the paranoids are coming to get you ?

I don't know why you try to label anyone who differes from your narrow-minded view as a 'Liberal'.
I am a Fiscal Conservative and Social Moderate - yes an 'Old School' Pre-Gingrich Republican who
is not satisfied with where the 'Party of Lincoln' has taken this nation, they too prey on insecurity.

I have a friend who is, in his last year of highschool, had an episode of what must have been schizophrenia (it wasn't diagnosed at the time) where he heard God speaking to him, telling him to do crazy stuff. According to my friend, the voice of God was like in The Simpsons, i.e., a ludicrous booming male voice, coming from the skies. This person is and always has been an atheist. Someone who is contemptuous of xian beliefs. And yet he had a full-on religious hallucination. If an atheist can get religious hallucinations, imagine how dangerous a situation it would be for a highly religious, fundamentalist xian with predisposition to schizophrenia.

Just because you homeschool does not mean your kids will grow up in a tiny secure bubble. Research home schooling a bit before you spout out drivel.

Actually, you do care, otherwise you wouldn't be slandering large groups of a certain religion - specifically christianity. That's called bigotry. How about I requote you: "the women are all mentally sick"

I don't feel at all threatened by women. I think it's shameful when any religion puts women in some "lower" place than men. And Islam is by far the worst offender of this. Not a liberal? Sorry, I misuse that word. Forgive my misuse of the word liberal. I'd more classify you as a socialist. Bigotry comes easier in socialism that liberalism.

And can you imagine how dangerous an aethist would become in that situation if instead they began to assume they were god? Stalin comes to mind...

edit: not that I'm saying one is better or worse than the other. All I'm presenting is an example that the mental illness is the issue, not the religion, or lack thereof, as the OP has so graciously implied and the parrots jumped in. I don't think you are doing the same (from what I can tell).

Even though he was Georgian, Stalin was following a long standing Russian Tradition of purging anybody he believed was a threat to his power. There's no documentation that he ever saw himself as anything but a Dictator.

There is plenty of evidence he was mentally ill, and that he was an athiest.

Well he was Paranoid but I think that comes with the territory when one is an absolute Dictator. I definately don't think he was hearing voices from God, Jeebus or Satan.

can you show me where he implied this? if you bothered to read the article, you would see that this is *not* what is being implied at all.

How about I requote you: "the women are all mentally sick"

Generalize much ?

This article ia about 3 specific women that have a mental illnes that lead to them killing their kids.
THose 3 women all followed the False Prophets of Religious Fundamentist Churches.

Now you want to extend this to all Islamic women, and from reading your response it looks like
you are trying to make that 'ALL WOMEN'.

And you want to label me first as a Liberal, then a Socialist.
What next ? Maybe a person who has the ability to think for himself, and draw the correct
conclusion by paying attention to the facts after amassing knowledge - Fear the Thought Police.

Why are these people who homeschool their kids so crazy?...They were religious nuts
people that home-school are a bit nuts.
Clear enough?

It would help if you said "these women" or "those 3 women". If that's who you were referring to "and not all women who follow this type of church", then I apologize and rescind that specific remark.

And what's with the whining about "labels"? I quote you again:
I caught the wrath of the Pro-Conservatives on this board who don't want thier little closed-minded
world upset
Might want to clean up your own house first...

Just depends on their upbringing/environment. A mentally unstable person who's been raised in a fundamentally Christian household may be more inclined to believe those voices were from God.

That doesn't change the fact that the main cause behind the crime is mental illness.

there are nuts everywhere. If anything religion(s) calms down thier internal devils with good behavioral science in the books, counseling from clergy, and a social network.

I didn't say there was. In fact I was just trying to explain why some nutjobs might say they did what they did for religious purposes.

yes, it is quite clear.

a.) religious people != homeschooled, so i'm not sure why you included that second quote

b.) "they were religious nuts"... how does this imply that religion is the issue? he is just saying that he knows a family who are crazy and religious, or perhaps crazy about being religious (implying at most, perhaps, that they have a mental illness hiding behind a mask of religion). if he was asserting that religion is to blame, why would he have posted an article that says:

That's not to say that God or bad religion is to blame for the murder of these seven children and injury to an eighth.

"religious" in this usage doesn't imply any relationship to "nuts" other than descriptive. if i said a plant was a "yellow daisy" would you think i was trying to imply that the plant was a daisy *because* it was yellow?
