Well, it was the first I'd heard of it. I don't really keep up with every conspiracy that someone spews on Reddit or where ever.

Still... as corrupt to the core as the Clintons are... at some level I could see them in collision with the Donald to orchestrate this whole thing.

Imagine her on the phone with him:

"Come on, Donald! You're not even trying! You can't make it too fucking obvious! What'd you do, go on google the day before the convention, look up 'campaign speech' and just copy down the first thing that came up?!"

"The DAY before!!? Hill, you kidding me! Try 10 minutes before!"

Msnbc is going off on this and they are calling for the speech writers head. They think this plagerism was an attack on trumps family and they think trump should be mad as hell and should be going after who ever did this to Melania. They are calling for the speech writer to own up to this.

Not what I was expecting.

I saw the same MSNBC segment and I think you are misinterpreting it. What they said was that in the usual situation when this happens, some low level staffer (speech writer in this case) goes public, admits they were are fault and gets very publicly shitcanned.

Trump has a very thin staff, can't really afford sacrificial lambs and in this particular case Melania publicly claimed in a pre-speech interview with Matt Lauer (with the Donald beaming by her side) that she wrote all the speech herself.

Trump's main claim to fame is as a TV star/producer. If there is anything he should have down pat it's how to run a show like a political convention. This, the latest in a long series of unforced errors, does not speak very well towards Trump's ability to deal with a chaotic world as President-regardless of whether or not you support his stated views.

At least she was able to get conservatives to finally applaud something Michele Obama said...lol!

Obama has truly sent the Republican party off of the rails.

I really don't see the big deal in all of this. It is a silly little speech. Does it really make any difference what she says? No, It doesn't. At least she didn't expose secret documents on a private server or get anyone killed.

I do. It's not just a "silly little speech", it's a speech by the wife of a man who wants to lead the most powerful nation on this planet. If Michele Obama had done the same thing conservative sirens would have been going off coast to coast. You know damned well they would too. It also matters because it speaks to the level of honesty and the amount of effort her husband would put into leading the country.

Little to none, just like her.

PS: You should have gone to Benghazi!, it's the theme from the first night of the convention... Lame diversion attempt - 0/10

I've thought about this a bit more. Neither one of them, Donald, or Melania, got through life and to where they are, by being so amateurish. This was a rookie move and even below Trump ethics. Nobody running for that office would blatantly do something that ridiculous and so obviously, easily discovered, intentionally.

Hell, beyond that, I don't know what happened. Maybe the former first lady spirit came to her, maybe she was channeling. I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of it.

Wouldn't expect anything from scammers and liars, and HERE we go again, just another dot on the I which clearly (TO ME) shows that we're dealing with scammers, liars and cons. People for whom nothing is low enough AS LONG as it gets them what they want, in this case power.

The funny thing is that M.T., after called out on the literally identical sentences claims "she wrote it herself" (LOL). I guess she "wrote it herself" in the same way as Donald is writing books on economy. (LOL too)

Yada Yada yada. So the wifes speech had a few lines that were strikingly similar to another speech. She is just the wife of the candidate. Hell Obama had no problem picking a man who has literally been a career plagiarizer as his VP getting elected twice. Yea good old Joe has been doing exactly the same thing since college and even did it in his failed presidential campaign back in the 80s. Look up Biden and the Kinnock controversy. Much ado about nothing.

Wonder if Fox has talked about this yet? If they stick to their MO will avoid as long as possible
Will you be sure to let us know? I'm really on the edge of my seat on this one. This could really make a difference. It could be HUUGE!

More than a few but that's subject to interpretation as to what a few are.
I agree potential first wife's speech isn't that important to me, what will be important is how Trump accepts the criticism because its a fact he doesn't accept feedback or admit being wrong.

**more news Paul Manafort stated Melania added the words herself essentially without anyone knowing. Trump did his usual and flew back to NY and his plane arrived late (I've heard Trump likes to sleep in his own bed whenever possible) he's been asleep for most of the news cycle.
I predict today will be an interesting day.

So far they went from claiming she wrote the speech to blaming speech writers for the plagiarism. Apparently they see no contradiction between 'I wrote this myself' and 'someone else wrote this so it's not my fault.'

Maybe pathological lying is contagious? Haha.

clearly drumpf wrote this speech in 2007 in preparation for his 2016 prez run. Obama lifted it from drumpf, not the other way around. Only losers would see it any other way.

What's hilarious is that she lifted parts from none other than Michele Obama about her immigrant experience. The woman,t he right repeatedly attacks and the man's wife who her husband repeatedly attacks as foreign. You can't make this stuff up.

If it isn't a big deal why not just say "she lifted it" and move on?

For something that wasn't a "big deal" the campaign sure did a lot of hype leading up to it.

They're changing their "story" again. Now Paul Manafort is claiming there was no plagiarism.
This is why when you tell the truth there is only one version.

I heard this on Morning Joe. The normal thing to do is have the writer admit they lifted parts of the speech then be publically fired.

Trump's stunning incompetence has resulted in the public humiliation of his wife? Seems like a pretty big deal to anyone without blinders.

It's not like this is a rare one-off. Over and over again Trump's campaign had been characterized by choas, incompetence, basic ignorance and unforced errors.

And the man wants us to give him nuclear weapons...
