Megyn Kelly - Black Face Halloween Comments

NBC was too quick to fire her. This was an opportunity to use the next show to discuss the subject. Blackface vs using facial makeup of another color.

Applying white facial makeup isn't racist if followed by a red nose and wig

As i posted earlier, they were looking to get rid of her. She conveniently doused herself in gasoline and dare them to throw a match. They gleefully obliged her

This is one of those instances where I think liberals should be celebrating the death of political correctness. I think it's profoundly stupid to waste even a second of attention span discussing Megyn Kelly's ignorance of blackface when you have tens of thousands of black votes in Georgia are being tossed aside. THAT is racism.

Criticizing a 50-something white woman on her lack of wokeness is just asinine.

IMO the media intentionally misdirects discussions away from real life issues and towards 'reality' topics like this one with Kelly. While outraged useful idiots like the OP willingly oblige. Because 'leftists.'

thats because those things get more viewers and consequently higher ad revenues. They are in the business of making money, not informing people.

Oh, another news link if anyone cares.

Usually at this point I would say "Don't worry, she's bound to find a home at Fox" but I'm afraid that bridge has already burned.

I don't get the surprise over this. Her rants over Santa Claus being white settled it for me, she's clearly a racist. Good move NBC.

I loved Amber Ruffin's take down of Megyn Kelly, the age mentions in particular. Reason being I watched Kelly interview Jane Fonda about a movie, and she just wanted to talk about how old Fonda was. She's basically an earlier version of Tomi Lahren; all face, no brains.

Never ceases to amaze how many so-called 'conservatives' are mad at 'leftists' for at-will employment.

Not a Megyn Kelly fan, but this sounds like a false equivalency. There's an obvious distinction between saying someone does or does not deserve to be fired based on their actions, and saying that employers should or should not have the ability to terminate employees for practically any reason.

So for an analogy, there's no contradiction in saying that alcohol should be legal and then criticising a family member for heavy drinking. Likewise, there's no contradiction for supporting at-will employment and then criticising a business that fires an employee for, what you perceive as, a poor reason. It only becomes a contradiction when you graduate to "therefore they shouldn't be allowed to fire this person."

My comment was intended to be snark.

However, a few things. First, Megyn Kelly isn't an actual employee of NBC. She's on contract, and NBC will end up paying her a hefty sum to break it.
Second, high-profile public figures are paid to make their "employers" (actually clients) look good. That's literally their entire job function. Presenting the "news" is purely a secondary function. They're actors, not reporters. So failing to look good, or doing the opposite and making your employer look bad in public, is not doing your job, which is always good cause.
And finally, this whole thing was almost certainly a preplanned media event. Kelly and NBC get a whole a newscycle in the limelight, she gets a fat severance and a book deal, and right wingers get another opportunity to complain about leftists and political correctness. Everybody wins except for the people who want real news about real issues and not tabloid crap.

She got fired because she was bad at her job.

Her job was to be an attractive personality that brings in viewers.

Being an offensive, air headed idiot that just pisses ppl off is about as useful as a quarterback that just throws interceptions.

Or: Megyn Kelly belongs on Fox, where being a bigot, or bigot-enabler, isn't a bug but a feature.

Exactly. She's a thoroughbred ignorant asshole, which is the prime personality for Fox's evening editorial lineup.

She tried to rebrand as a bubbly, warm morning person but she can't do it. She's just not likable.

I am on the line about this. She may not had been truly aware. I'll be honest, I wasn't aware the history behind black face. However, on the other hand, I imagine she did know. I am not offended at all either way since she did apologize.

Either way, I think this is more because her ratings suck and it gives them an out.

I think her career is over, she is probably too attractive for Satellite Radio, and too big for NRA TV.

She will find something. If nothing else she can probably make a pretty decent living making content for some youtube channel that specializes in certain types of conspiracy theories.

I'm still sticky sticking with vacuous, white privileged, know nothing.
Edit: made myself laugh
