I don't support piracy, but something about this tickles me... I suppose I just don't care for "might makes right" and Big Money pushing everyone around. It is nice to see the little guys have a little control.

Only Santorum came out in anyway for SOPA, rest of the field adamantly rejected it and cited current laws.

So if you have twin 12 year old daughters, and I take one, no big deal, right? She was just a copy.

Fail analogy is fail.

If he has a daughter and you take a hair from her brush and clone her, then you have copied his daughter. Weird? Yes. Pirated the dna? Yes. Stole his daughter? Nope.

DDoSing websites of organizations that derive zero revenue from said websites, that'll teach them

Yea...everyone is acting like this is such a big deal. What point are you proving by taking down the RIAA website for a short peroid of time?

According to the anti-piracy ads "Copying DVDs is stealing"

By that logic, taking a photo is kidnapping.

Do you know what crap you will have to go through when you have to get online again. The ISP of the server place it on a blacklist. You will have to contact them and do all sorts of crap just for them to make it accessible again. If it happens a lot the ISP blacklist you permanently. So theres more to it

I'm sure the DoJ and Justice department can find hosting or an ISP. I doubt they're on some $5/month budget server somewhere that will shut them down if they go over their bandwidth quota.

Well, the worst they can face if caught is prison over what they did last night, but cross a cartel and you can get tortured and then your head left on the side of the road.

ZOMG Piracy isn't stealing since it's just a copy and I wouldn't have bought it anyway blah blah blah /scumbag thief talking points

Agreed. Piracy needs to stop, but it needs to stop in a better way than this.

That is good, he obviously pulled that deep, deep from within his ass. I doubt piracy costs many jobs at all. The money people save stealing copyrighted material they spend on other things they cannot steal.

So we're supposed to turn a blind eye? I'm all for going after the people making this stuff available. As in the uploaders - NOT the hosters (unless the people running the hosting sites encourage it.)

Also, I'm against SOPA/PIPA...

They should start calling this like it is.

Pirate DLing of material is only "worth" a fraction of what it would be sold at.

They should take the cost to produce this, then multiply it by a "if I had to, would I buy it" number.

I guarantee you that if piracy was magically stopped today, that the additional money spent on the "real thing" would only be 10%-20% of the volume illegally downloaded.

So, it is still theft, but this is not something that will rock the boat quite as much as the Nostradami would like us to believe.

The current model of production and distribution of art is outdated and needs to be swept away.

I'm amazed that the New Zealand and Hong Kong police were so ready to help enforce US law in their countries.

Anonymous supports the Occupy movement. You can't really call them Libertarian and still be honest.
