- Look into crate training.
- The dog needs attention on a massive scale right now, probably equal to a baby. Even consider sleeping next to the crated dog on the couch or something. At least until it get's comforatable (see crate training)
- Don't change foods often. Use a high quality food if you can afford it, it makes a huge difference in the coat and stool consistence. (cheap food = squirts)
- Get the ASPCA complete guide to dogs.

Good luck.

I had him on the highest grade food I could find, but then returned it yesterday after he wasn't eating it and god him a bag of puppy pro plan which is what he was raised on before we got him. Is Puppy pro plan good?

I'd recommend Natural Balance. Iams also makes decent food.

Most major brands of food are nutritionally fine. Science diet, Iams, purina. The thing to look for on the bag is the statement that feeding trials have established that this food is nutritionally adequate. Do not get anything that says it is for "All life stages", get puppy food for puppies and adult dog food for adults, and never buy food that was "formulated to meet" AAFCO recommended guidlines instead of having feeding trials. The reason I recommend Iams is that it contains their dental defense system, which is almost the only food additive that actually has studies backing it's effectiveness (aside from science diet t/d). Product claims to reduce plaque are considered cosmetic, and not regulated. You could say that powdered sugar reduces plaque and get away with it. Product claims to reduce tartar on the other hand have to have evidence behind them.
Here's the lowdown on interpreting petfood labels: http://www.fda.gov/cvm/petlabel.htm
If you do switch foods for your dog, do so gradually over a period of a week.

I feed him Puppy Pro Plan right now. I'm going to see what the vet recommends and if I do switch, I'll be slowly mixing in the new brand over a period of time with his old food.

Turtles live for hundreds of years.

I know land tortoises can live for 100+ years, maybe 200, but I doubt it can get to several hundred years old. Turtles this small I thought lived for like 5-10 years

Umm, yeah. She's lived longer than 5-10 years :) And she still acts like a baby. There's no slowing her down. Her species is from China. She's not one you can find at pet stores or anywhere in the country anymore unless you were hanging around Chinatowns 20 years ago.

I did make a video of my adventures of waking up at 3am and walking downstairs in the dark to turn on the light just to see a puppy howling and yapping his head off. I'll try and get it up later. Since I have to leave for work pretty early, I couldn't afford to make trips back and forth downstairs at all hours of the morning so I just slept through everything. When I woke up this morning, I thought to myself "Wow, he didn't scream all night since I didn't wake up!" It turns out my mom had to sleep right next to the dog all night. She was in a portable cot with a blanket and the dog jumping all over the gate next to her. She was the one that told me to ignore him when he shrieks at night so I could sleep and that he'd have to learn how to be alone. Doesn't look like it worked!

Welcome to the next couple months of your life. In my case the 3am yaps were almost always bathroom related... but wow it get's old quick standing in the front yard at 3am.

I have tons and tons of funny Turtie pictures. She's just like a dog and begs. I'll get them up later.

Blitz will be 8 weeks old tomorrow and is a beagle/lab/terrier mix.
