this game is so so good. its about 1000x better in a group though. I can understand peoples frustrations with it though. It doesnt bother me so much, all the quirks and changes. My playtime is so limited its always a treat to play.
Its only 1000x better in a group till you realize you just moved from the side being farmed to the side doing the farming, which isnt any more fun, the chances of you getting put against another team is just to small. Hopefully they add a way to do premade vs premade soon so we can get into the competative gameplay unit v unit warfare. The whole pug v premade thing is getting old.
have you heard about the changes to matchmaking comming soon (early november i think)
you can group up to 4 people and it will place you with 4 pugs or another group of 4. so you can launch a group of 4 + another group of 4 vs group of 4 + group of 4 (or 4+4pugs vs 4+4pugs or whatever combo there in). if you want to group 5, 6 or 7 buddies, youre shit out of luck. But you can group two groups of 4 friends to make 8. these will only launch against other groups of 8.

Does not surprise me. I have been a die-hard mechwarrior fan almost from the beginning (I didn't start with the Solaris Games one, but with the Activision Mechwarrior game in the late 80's). And I suffered with many through the Microsoft years of them trying to turn the games from a simulator/pilot driving the mech, to a person wearing giant robot armor. Even this game suffers some from those Microsoft changes, but they at least have tried to bring it back more to piloting a mech again, with different things which actually differentiate the mechs.

Wow, just got a 24 hour ban for discussing intentionally high ping giving light a invinceable lag shield in a thread. Apparantly we arnt supposed to be discussing this in the forums even though its mentioned in dozens of threads.
I guess this isnt one of those find exploit/bug beta's it must be a marketing beta only, which is wierd because im pretty sure the devs have stated the opposite.
The funny thing is dragon ramming/bowling was deemed a exploit before it was fixed a few months back and there are hundreds of threads about that, no one getting bans for discussing/testing it. Before they added consistancy checks to mechlab mechs when they save and you could load up tons of more weapons heatsinks and equip and save it 50+ tons over weight limit and drop in game like that everyone was discussing/testing this exploit in forums, no one was getting bans over it. But apparantly they draw the line at discussing lagshield/high pings.
Which is fine, now that i know where they stand on beta "testing" vs beta "marketing" i will just play the game, not attempt to find bug's exploits, and not submit any support tickets. Im done testing and will just play it like its a finished game, apparantly thats what they want now. Im not going to waste time trying to find/discuss breaking the game if im going to get banned over it. Fake beta FTL.

Probably, just kinda sad though when they start to censor the fourms to stop people from discussing game breaking issues/exploits, 3-4 monthys ago thats all people were doing, trying to be helpful and fix the game with very little trolling. Now its a trollfest only(thats why i started to troll the fourms alot its all there is to do over there anymore, serious threads dont exsist and when you try and start one they get buried in the first 30 min and no one sees them).
Seems lately this game has been going down hill fast, i hope they turn it around, i love the MW name and the lore. But PGI has been making some poor decisions lately. Im actually hopeing they launch the game like it is now, it get absolutly destroyed in the reviews(which it will in current state) and that acts as a wake up call for PGI and they get there shit together and fix it.
It wasnt so bad months back when i first got in, but its been going steadily down hill since and now its just brutal over there. Half the people in the forums cant get PGI's dick outta there mouths long enough to see whats actually going on with the game.

Yeah, the founders, especially the legendary ones seem to be the worst ones too from my experience. They are like I wanted to give PGI the money because it's Mechwarrior blahblahblah, I'm sure you seen them as well lol
I think the main issue is alot of them thought the game was close to completion than it really was, when most founders bought in open beta/launch was summer 2012. People are not so inclined to wait long after shelling out twice retail for a new game(legendary founders).
Not to mention it was quite a shock to myself and im sure others when i got into beta in july, i thought the game was coming out in a few weeks(summer 2012) and it was a shattered shell of a game no where near ready to launch, i thought it was a joke and i was running some alpha version of the game.
So i can totally see why some people are upset about it.

Game dev white knights are THE worst. I don't understand how you can be so misguidedly devoted to something like a game that you defend its flaws until you're blue in the face. If you actually like the game you should be wanting to make it better.
You cant even tell them that though, ive seen people try and they just get ignored.
Ive seen dozens of threads over there where people make very rational posts about how being a "game dev white knight" will only hurt the game in the long run and if the game launchs with all these obvious flaws that non white knights will not put up with that we wont have a game in a year or two.
And no one pays them any attention.

I guess im just not passionate about the issue. I like the game, but i know there are a BUNCH of bugs and features that need addressed. Still having fun, but i can see why people are getting upset.
it is crap if theyre banning for bringing up lag issues though. Getting circled by a light? dont have lasers? well you're pretty well fucked between the firing delay and lag.

I don't even mind the bugs, it's that they wanted or still want to launch the game in the state it is now. Granted they are calling it "Open Beta" but it really is release. For me that was the straw that broke the camels back. I can deal with Beta bugs but trying to release the game and start making more money on top of the 5m they made off founders packs is just low.

I've e-mailed them back and forth a couple of times now and apparantly it wasnt that i was discussing the lag its that i mentioned that people were abusing the lag shield by using intentionally high ping.
Someone asked me how people would do that in the fourms and i mentioned using your brain would be a good start, just download some torrents or write a small script to generate some network activity.
Apparantly intentionally high ping is a known exploit and mentioning it or how to accomplish it is a 24 hour bannable offence, because im sure no one knows downloading torrents raises your ping its a huge secret.......
