Good then i dont see the issue, hell you can even join teamspeak without a mic and drop with them if you want no mic required.

i actually realized this last night. in my brain i figured voice chat system = needing to chat. didnt enter my mind just to hop in and listen.

i can turn my founders CAT-C1 into a sudo K2. Strip everything, add a 300XL, 2 ERPPC's and a bunch of heat sinks. i'll die eventually, but not before getting at least 2-3 kills. :D

shame the rest of my team blows goats.

Is 1000+ XP normal now? coring out them central components on a kill does wonders for exp.

Yes.

In other news, I managed to headshot 2 cats in a single game with a janner yesterday, was pretty funny (we still lost, unfortunately).
EDIT: 1524XP in a winning match with my Dragon :O

one of them cats may have been me. last game i played i barely took any damage. the first shot i took was to my head and made it go red with the critical sounds going off. So that had to be someone with an AC20, but there was no one close. a few minutes later i wade into a fight and promptly die from another head shot. torso still nice and light yellow.

I stopped aiming at anything that wasn't the head or back long ago. I was real close to winning a match the other day when it was just me left from my team against 5. I was in my founder's atlas, against 2 atlases, 1 awesome, 1 hunchback, and a jenner. I got lucky on the jenner who was scouting me with the hunchback and must have hit him right in the head with my 2 UAC5's and some of the SRM6's packs, which killed him on his first time trying to run around me (I had my back up against a building in the frozen map, so he had to loop pretty wide around me to keep from running into it). The hunchback had no chance and I creamed him a second after the jenner. The 2 atlases and the awesome at least came as a team with the 2 atlases on my right and the awesome on my left, so I pointed myself at the 2 atlases (as they would have cored me from the rear if I had gone after the awesome). I took out the first atlas on my first 2 volleys of the UAC's and SRM's, and then did the same to the second one (as he started retreating after he saw the first go down so quickly). In the meantime the awesome had been pounding me pretty good, and I only managed to get one volley on him before he finally cored me (but his head was red, I would have had him on the next one....). My team was going nuts on chat. And I basically said, that is how you play as an atlas :D

I had 6 kills that match as well...

man. grouping makes this game 1000x better. finally hooked up with the PA guys last night. went rolling with our group of 8 and just destroyed the opposition every match. Its nice grouping with mostly mediums and heavies.

its going to be a sad day when they put in jamming for the UAC5s. my K2 with 2 UAC5s is my favorite one to run with.

I would think grouping would help. I wish I could find a group, but then again, I have been a 1 man army lately... Case and point last match.

I am in my non-founders Atlas-D (training it up to get to elite again):
Engine: 300
2x UAC 5
2x SRM6
2x Medium Lasers
heatsinks and ammo (lots of ammo)

Anyway, I had to kill 3 founders Atlas-D's, 3 Catapults (2 were K2's, 1 a founders), and a Hunchback 4G (I think). My team managed to kill a single other mech (which I won't name since I do not believe it has been officially announced, but it was a medium). I was the sole atlas in our group.

Five of those mechs I took out solo before anyone else even got a shot in on them (the 2 K2 cats were both head shot and dead in 2 cycles of my UAC 5's + 1 volley of the SRM's, the founders I got behind him and when he twisted to see was was shooting him, I shot his head off as well). The hunchback though he was being sneaky and was getting behind one of our cats, but in reality he was just opening up his back directly to me which I cored in 2-3 volleys. The second atlas I fought actually knew a little about what he was doing and put some damage on me before I could aim my SRM's and UAC 5's at him (he was keeping himself too low off a hill for me to aim down at him), but once I got close enough to remove the angle he had, he was dead.

I really don't know what my team was doing to be honest with you. They at least helped shoot at the last atlas before I closed range and blew his head off (like just about everything else I killed, but they were shooting his arms and sides...).

Yep, grouping is almost required. I stopped playing because pugging is annoying and its too much effort to get a group right now, things are still being reset so I am waiting until the final reset so I can grind back to elite again with my Atlas

I still have fun in the pick up groups... And it hasn't affected my kill ratio too bad (currently 4.64:1).

i kinda wish they would take away the kill counts. i can do 99% of the damage, team mate get the kill shot, and all i get is an assist. granted its a two way street, and ive snaked a couple kills, but does it really matter? its a team effort. why should the kill shot get credit for it? why even track them at all?

is it me or is the mechlab bugged all to hell since the last patch? almost every time i modify a build it freaks out and either doesnt register half of what i did or just doest show it, so i go back and redo it only for it to place everything i did back making it overweight and spending a couple million i didnt have to.

also, starting a match and getting placed under your mech. cant see the countdown timer. no keys work. no cockpit view. just looking at the chin of my cat. very odd. happened to me and a guy in our group friday night.

Do any of you guys play in a group? How do you even group up? I'm so tired of playing with retards 9 out of 10 matches.

is it just me or is the change password thing a bit wonky? I changed my password (via forum profiles) and then tried to log in with the new password and it's not working.

Because there is a difference between what has been officially announced on the public website and what is in the BETA. We have NDA's that we still need to follow, and I have not seen mention of the mech I am talking about on the public website or in any of the official announcements for the game, only on the speculation websites (which pretty much list every mech in battletech which was available during the timeframe that the game is set).

All the other mechs I have spoken about are ones which everyone knows about (due to being available from the founders packs, or having been in the official screenshots/video demos). I won't talk about others which may or may not get in the game, even if they happen to be in the beta.

huh. thought every model in the beta has been announced on the site.

Atlas, Awesome, Cicada, Commando, Cataphract, Catapult, Centurion, Dragon, Hunchback, JagerMech, Jenner, Raven, Spider, Stalker and Trebuchet have all been announced.

all the ones in the beta have been announced.

um, every mech that can be played in the game has artwork or videos of it up on the main website now. not sure what other one there could be.

It takes several days at the moment for their servers to sync up. use your old password until the next reset.

I hear ya.

I'm a little tired of rounds where I do 800+ damage but get credit for 0 kills.

I agree, you should simply get credit for damage done. 90% of my rounds I do a ton of damage, normally highest in the game by a lot, but only get 1-2 kills and someone else gets 3-4 a lot of times and only did a fraction of the damage I've done.

If they wouldn't allow GODS to play, like Fallen Kell, then there would be more kills for the rest of us!!

not LRM boating or similar?

in which case, just do not be the first into action, let the team mates sofen up the enemy before moving in.

Nope, generally PPC's

i dont get all the hate for PPCs. they should be as fast to hit as gauss rifles, but other than that, they can do some good damage.

I like to run with my founders cat with 2 ERPPCs in the torsos and 31 heat sinks. Its good times right there.
