Double cheeseburger is $1.69 here, so I could see a 2 for $2.50 McDouble staying around.

I don't see their sausage biscuit or sausage muffins with no egg offerings in that menu either. Hopefully they'll still be offered as a value item.

Probably a loss leader. I'd sometimes stop and get only two of them (nothing else) and literally scarf them down in under a minute if I was in a hurry. Here's an idea McDonalds: Save money on the bag and wrapper by just holding it naked out the drive through window and I'll eat it out of their hands, lol.

^ I don't savor $1 burgers so it's just about a quick cheap refueling. If I was eating more leisurely I'd buy something else, not at McDonalds if there were other choices.

As far as crappy cheap McDonalds goes the double cheeseburger is far superior to the mcdouble, the extra piece of cheese makes it.

The problem is the $1 burger tastes so bad, it's poor value even at $1.

i actually found the opposite true - the double cheeseburger is too much crappiness, whereas the McD is just enough crappiness where you can get your fix w/o making yourself sick.

When you're used to ... say ... Burger King or Wendy's ... heading to McDonald's and being presented with the lowest end food possible just makes you want to kill yourself. So sad and depressing.
As an adult I can't come up with a reason to visit.

(frankly though, I've never wanted to kill myself for any reason)

McDonald's is good if you stick with the regular menu items like the Big Mac or Quarter Pounder with cheese. It sucks once you start ordering from the dollar menu. But nothing at Burger King is good. Not even regular menu items. I will go hungry and skip a meal rather than eat at Burger King. Whopper used to be so good. It's a shame it's inedible now.

I don't know what it is, but Burger King's burgers taste awful to me. McDonald's burgers are definitely better. Burger King had the best chicken nuggets before McDonald's started using all white meat, though, but I guess that's still debatable. Haven't had either in years.

I wonder how they even manage to sell a burger for only $1. Maybe I don't want to know. :p

As a side note I keep forgetting we have Harvey's here now. It's in the old BK building. We had BK for a couple years which I enjoyed but they shut down due to health related issues lol.

It is? I used to sometimes stop on the way to work and get either one of these or an Egg McMuffin. Don't remember them ever being more than $2. Maybe that just tells me how many years it's been since I ate there.

McDouble's have been >$1.50 for a long time. I think I read that their beef prices went up enough that they were losing money selling them at $1.
