If you must know, it's probably the first time I have been to McDonalds in over a year. It was convienient, and I had not eaten in a day. I got the southern chicken sandwhich.

How barbaric!
Now you know better, and next time you can just keep right on being hungry, knowing that you have earned the approval and admiration of the haters from ATOT. You may pass out and run over a small child due to fatigue, but it's worth it.

Especially if you then eat that child, that tiny morsel of natural goodness, mmmmmmmm.

Waste not, want not. It's all about the ecology and keeping traffic lanes clear of bothersome debris.

Getting something to eat or drink would be my best guess.

Might as well just through the happy meal right into the toilet.

Exactly. If you want good food, you have to go to Burger King.

Maybe I figured that was a given.

The refills barely cost them anything, part of the reason they offer them. Free good-will.

I heard some figure like six cents for a large.

You're not a fast eater. Maybe you just hang out with a lot of slow eaters.

They also do this to keep people from conducting business from the restaurant.

I see people all the time with a laptop, portfolio, cellphone, briefcase all over a table. I'm waiting to see someone with a company nameplate like they rented the space.

That coffee lady is going to sue again if she chokes by claiming the short time limit.

If I saw a sign like that I would make it a point to sit there for an hour or so if I had time.

Gonna take a random guess here from the sign that people were sitting in the store drinking as much as they possibly could for free, since they seem so adamant about pointing out refill rules. Probably highschool kids or really cheap people.

/captain obvious

Theres a taco bell down the street from my school that me and my friends drop by sometimes. Usually I buy something without a drink and ask for a "cup of water", which translates to "your boss seems cool, can I get a medium cup and refill the shit out of it?" Usually it works, unless the no-chin manager is on shift.

Damn no-chin manager, limiting me from free raspberry Brisk goodness.

Anyway, point is sure the sign is up there, but the people working there probably dont care unless their manager is a huge jerk.

This sign equates to exactly this:

1. Real customers wont be bothered
2. Teenage/young adults who are typically there leeching off the free refills will be kicked out, and the sign can be used as a reference to show that they were warned before they entered the building

I heard some figure like six cents for a large.

I'm trying to remember from a long time ago, but IIRC when I worked at a convenience store, a 5 gallon box of syrup cost ~$35. It was mixed at a ratio of ~5.5:1, so your 5 gallons of syrup would yield 32.5 gallons of soda. Figuring a large is 32 oz, $.27 for the syrup, plus the CO2 isn't free (although it is pretty cheap).

Unless my memory is wrong. But honestly, I think it's unlikely that Coca-Cola and Pepsi would sell their product at a wholesale price that would permit even the cheapest retailers to mark it up 10x.

Now the cup, that costs about nickel.

Wegman's (at least the one near me) has a sign in their eating area prohibiting meetings "out of courtesy to other customers." Honestly, if you're going to have a meeting at a restaurant, don't do it at McDonald's or Wegman's.

This reminds me, I was at a Harbor Freight store in Lilburn last weekend and was about to piss myself so went to look for the bathroom and find it in the back store room area but then I notice a sign posted that said bathroom is for employees only and no exceptions and if you can't hold it to go outside. I thought that was a bit over the top. The worst part was the store was located in a shopping center where nearly every store had shut down except for some nasty "Farmers Market" on the opposite side of the whole place.

WTF! I bet you can complain to the company about that ( like they'll do anything though ). If you took a piss/dump outside the Harbor Freight here you would probably be arrested fairly quickly - there's a pretty busy police substation a few hundred feet away. Did you at least get the crappy quality tools you were lookin' for?

They'd probably murder me and my girlfriends. We get small meals, then sit in there for a good hour or two talking. There's never anybody in there anyway.
