I did a run with the Superman version of this demo, on my old 2700k+3060ti, if anyone's interested (non monetized of course).
This is the city of the yellow door. It's the small one. It runs fine ok? I don't even want to know what's on the other door!
The weird resolution was chosen by the demo. This one does not have .inis to fiddle with. So the settings are what the creator chose.
Aside from the lower resolution, the demo is once again cpu limited of course. However it runs much better compared to the original, probably due to the reduced scope of the yellow door. However it is a very good showcase of what the engine can do, in a somewhat better way than the original, because you now have a character to fly around and navigate through the city.
Also superman flys like crazy, so the engine gets really stressed steaming assets. And yes once again the demo was run from a hard drive. I will have to confess that during the first minute or so, it did have many stutters streaming data from the hard drive, something I had not seen on the original version. That is due to this demo steaming a lot more data due to the increased flying speed. The good news however, is that after this data has been cached, it runs absolutely fine even on HDD. At least for this yellow door city. The other one may not be so forgiving.
The poor 2700k is doing ok in this version, which makes me hopeful for smaller scope UE5 games. I mean not open world ones. Something more linear perhaps. We'll see.
I am seriously amazed how the engine can show great detail when you come close to objects. You can look inside windows in skyscrapers and see fully equipped rooms. Yes I am a peeping tom! I am superman ok? What would you do if you had superpowers? And people are talking crap about Homelander. I would be far worse I swear! xD
