Because you can't fathom that they may have different solutions than you but still want to reduce gun violence just like you do. It comes across as a smug, condescending viewpoint that the only reason people don't agree with you personally is because they don't want to reach the same goal as you and therefore they need to be trashed.

See? Now you're showing some of that empathy I was talking about 🙂

You know this based on your poorly constructed assumptions. I can see how you might think this, yet I think you are buying in too much to the "us vs them" mentality.

I haven't seen your explicit support for my idea to reduce gun violence (more than any law you could propose): end the war on drugs. Yet I'm not going to trash you. I'm going to win you over. You'll see.
Ah, I agree the war on drugs is stupid.

That changes nothing on how I feel about guns. 2A needs to be rewritten. The dumb need to shut up. Civilians should have VERY limited extremely controlled gun access.

You know nothing of the extent of my empathy. It is my empathy for the victims that wants those bought and paid for politicians to shove their thoughts and prayers up their asses. They're insensitive to the victims loved ones who are suffering a devastating loss and completely useless if their thoughts and prayers lead to no solutions and that is intentional on their parts. It is you who is trying to dictate empathy and where it should be acknowledged. If we're competing (quite silly really!) I win.

Well, I guess if I were called out for shitting on empathetic wishes as an attempt to present the people who express them as monsters, I'd probably try and bow out of the conversation, too. It's probably best this way.
That's not why he was done with the conversation. It's you darlin', you're the reason.

OK get specific. How would we accomplish this? Has any nation ever accomplished something like this before and what were the results? How would you limit the guns and what would you do to the 300,000,000+ guns already in civilian ownership? Don't worry too much about how you feel about guns. Keep your eye on the prize: reducing gun murders. If we can accomplish this without making gun owners felons, would this be acceptable?

You know nothing of the extent of my empathy.

Exactly. Yet you claim to know the extent of others whom you have never met and the only thing they ever "did to you" was offer thoughts and prayers to victims. There are members in this forum who have offered these condolences and had their asses blasted. Where were you telling the ass-blasters they know nothing of people's empathy? You were nowhere. The same rule must apply to both teams. It is stupid to have teams anyway.

It is my empathy for the victims that wants those bought and paid for politicians to shove their thoughts and prayers up their asses.

Shoving thoughts and prayers up someone's ass doesn't help a victim. It can't possibly be your empathy for the victims that wants this. It is more likely your hatred for the other team and your firm belief that they are evil because "not my team".

They're insensitive to the victims loved ones who are suffering a devastating loss and completely useless if their thoughts and prayers lead to no solutions and that is intentional on their parts.

If a child of mine died, and if someone offered their empathy, and you came along to shit on that because politics I would be fucking livid. It is not a prerequisite to fix the world before being allowed to express empathy.

It is you who is trying to dictate empathy and where it should be acknowledged.

I'm not the one who said "fuck your empathy". I'm the one who said whoa maybe back off that shit. It's just a suggestion. If you want to triple down on that empathy rage then I can't stop you. But I might make posts on an internet forum about it. You'll just have to live with it.

If we're competing (quite silly really!) I win.

And you have once again completely missed the entire point. You think there is competition here. You are a poor judge of people's intentions and clearly have no business judging the earnestness of anybody's empathy. Maybe you can take empathy at face value and suggest solutions instead of crapping on it.

You just had to keep pushing. Far as I'm concerned you and the person we've been discussing can both fuck off thanks. 🙂

Bye Felicia.

*sigh*

They can shove the pretend empathy up their asses. Their actions don't and never will back up their words. If you're missing that the real issue isn't their words it's their lack of action that makes those words meaningless that's on you.

I don't think we're in a competition. You're persistence has the flavor of a challenge not extended in good faith.

You're not winning me over, you're proving yourself to be tedious.

I am also done with this "conversation".

WHAT ACTION??? What is the action that they must take or else their words are meaningless? Please be specific. Tell me what to do, who has done this before, and what would be the outcome.

Cool but your good faith has been attacking people who say nice things but you think they don't mean them. That doesn't solve anything. How do we solve this?

You're not winning me over, you're proving yourself to be tedious.

Please propose something. It seems like you are far more interested in me joining your "fuck people who say thoughts and prayers" club than offering an actual solution.

*sigh* <--- stop doing thaT!

Ok, one last response.

Nah man, you don't have to join the club. Really, not sure how you got the impression I feel any need whatsoever for you to join.

I've expressed my thoughts on the gun issue in the past. It's shat upon and truly none of you who want to have a "genuine conversation" about it actually want to have a genuine conversation. Also, it's not my job to sort the shit out. It's the elected officials jobs to sort it out In Good Faith not with tainted money lining their pockets.

I don't have good faith. Never said I did. I have NO FAITH in those fu*ks and their platitudes. That's been made abundantly clear to you but you instead belabor your deep concern/sympathy for pieces of shit who are paid to ignore what's become a huge issue in the United States. Given that that is their starting point (bribed and rated by the NRA) where the fu*k do you imagine their empathy comes from? Their wallets! That's not called empathy, it's called complicity and greed. If you're confusing those things it's time to reflect but we both know you won't. It's too damn time consuming worrying about a lack of empathy for the empathy-less. Ya got yourself a job of work there buddy. Seriously, it'll be endless because those c*nts are going to keep taking money from special interest groups and looking the other way and relying on their dumb as fu*k constituents to Ooo and awe and melt every time they spat out some thoughts and prayers AT people.

Not sure what you're referring to (I'm old and feeble minded) but I haven't trusted Bill Cosby since back in the 60s when he began telling jokes about drugging women for sex.
I thought pipeline offered you a drink in a previous post but looking back I can't find it. If he does offer you a drink though don't accept it!

You mean... I'm... I'm not your darlin?

Well, you are but don't tell pipeline that when I say it to you I mean it in the same way I say it to him. His precious overly concerned heart might not be able to take it.

The meme tugged at my heart, you know it did!
