The Onion has been doing this same article for years since the government (lack of) response is the same every single time.

For what it's worth, the shooter (not convicted yet) was identified as 21 yr-old Ahmad Al-Issa from Arvada, about 20 miles away from the supermarket. He has lived in Arvada for a long time.

The victims range in age from 20 to 65.

anyone want to recant their earlier claims?

Looks like another young paranoid schizophrenic male mass shooter.
Authorities on Tuesday identified the suspect in the shooting deaths of 10 people at a King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado, as 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, whose brother said he was deeply disturbed.

Alissa, who is from Arvada, has been charged with 10 counts of first-degree murder for the massacre. He was taken into custody after being shot during apprehension.

Ali Aliwi Alissa, the suspect’s 34-year-old brother, told The Daily Beast that authorities searched his house all night after the shooting.

Alissa described his brother as “very anti-social” and paranoid, adding that, in high school, he would describe “being chased, someone is behind him, someone is looking for him.”

“When he was having lunch with my sister in a restaurant, he said, ‘People are in the parking lot, they are looking for me.’ She went out, and there was no one. We didn’t know what was going on in his head,” Alissa said, admitting that he believes his brother is mentally ill.

Looks white to me.

Here's my claim, it's way too easy to get a gun in this country.

"Too soon"

"Thoughts and prayers"

Maybe, just maybe, someone with paranoid delusions (if this guy's brother is to be believed) shouldn't have access to firearms? Would be interesting to know how he acquired the weapon he used to commit this atrocity.

Is it easy to buy guns in Colorado?

we also have a "red flag" law. where you can be "reported" to police for being unstable, etc. by anyone i think, and have your weapons' buying power restricted. and there does seem to be some due process to this, at least in some cases that were in the media.
Maybe people will get serious about using it? with all that stuff going on with this guy he must have had some interactions with health care or mental health workers?

We seem to be better at capturing these incidents on cellphones than we are at confronting the gunmen with more guns. So I propose a thoroughly American solution: every cellphone should have a built-in gun or be sold with a gun case. Make it a requirement for every American carrier. That’s how we get more good guys with guns out there.

Now that we’ve identified the shooter—who’s ready for universal background checks??

You mean do I want to recant restating the official Republican position on crime, its no concern unless the perp is black?

I stand by my statement.
You're right... Why do they care so much about black crime though? Racism or statistics? Or racist statistics? Do blacks pull triggers in Chicago? 38 shot last weekend. But I didn't see a thread posted on that. Clean up your own streets and you'll find out that republicans no longer care about the black perp. We're waiting.

Has anything come out about his religious beliefs or are you just assuming everyone with that name is a practicing Muslim?
Watch as the same people who were freaking out yesterday that this tragedy might be used to take away their rights now try to use this tragedy to take away other peoples' rights.

Well sure, but they have always been very clear that they don't care about other people's rights.

In the same vein it has always been 'fuck YOUR feelings'. Their feelings are very important.
