ah shit, I destroyed it

I think I saw a poll somewhere as to how people played it out and more that half destroyed it. Since this seemed the most "moral" choice to me, it would be really cheap if they penalized you for it in the final game.

However, if you dont import an old save you could play as you want maybe.

I really enjoyed the first two games, but considering Bioware's recent track record and the continued involvement of EA and the consolization of RPGs in general, I am getting a bad feeling about this game. Hope I am wrong.

Considering how KOTOR was never finished, I really wanted an epic conclusion to this franchise. I just hope they dont turn it into Call of Duty in space!!!

Don't worry it won't be Call of Duty in space, it's already Gears of War in space.

Yes tons of chest high walls!

I for one did two play through one where I destroyed the ship, and the other where I set off the EMP radiation thingie. I imagine I'll play through ME3 twice as well.

At E3 they showed the new feature of Kinect with ME3, they haven't showed much, but I couldn't for the life of me understand what Kinect was doing when the guy spoke, were the dialog options appearing on-screen due to what the player says? If so, I wonder how many different things we can say. I can imagine most people will just spit out stupidities at the screen for the heck of it and expect something to happen?

"Hey, I'm Shepard, what's up!"

*game tries to analyze what the player just said*
*nothing found in dialog libraries for spoken line(s)*
*nothing appears on-screen*
*scene lags*
*game crashes*

I mean ok, but seriously though, how will that work in a game where the story is scripted and has to take specific routes according to the decisions you take and NOT according to what you're actually saying out loud at the screen. I'm not sure what BioWare is trying to do, or managed to do so far with Kinect but I admit, I'm curious, not turning my back at it, I'm just not quite sure that it'll work well... time will tell. I for one will play my ME3 on PC of course, but my cousin owns a 360 and he will buy it, he also has Kinect, so I'll see what was done with that eventually.

You speak a line presented on the dialogue wheel to choose it.

Oh....... I see. And THAT is supposed to increase the immersion? So instead of moving the joystick, pushing the d-pad or moving the mouse you actually speak the line and it selects it. A grand plan from a great developer indeed, I don't know but I feel like buying a 360 and Kinect just to experience a new level of immersion now.

MS: «Hey guys, yeah Microsoft here, erm just calling to ask something, could you guys do us a favor? We'd like it if you could come up with... erm, well something with ME3 for Kinect, we kinda need to boost the sales, you know, linked to a name like Mass Effect 3 and all that...»

BW: «Oh, sure! But we'll need a few extra months for that, give us more time and we'll do it»

NEWS: BioWare delayed.

Fans: «Good thing they'll have more time to work on the game»

Sorry I couldn't resist.

Meh, the voice controlled conversations don't excite me either. But voice commands to squadmates does.

PS Way back when Kinect was called Project Natal Casey Hudson mentioned in an interview that they would consider working it into Mass Effect, before Mass Effect 2 released. Edit: Here's the interview: http://www.charter.net/games_channel/news_read.php?games_rip_id=1014425

I do agree with that, giving orders to squadmates, yeah I could see that being fun. But yeah joking and cynicism aside I guess that only time and actually trying it will tell if it turns out to be a good feature or not. I actually am curious about it.

Nah, they'll probably just introduce a new one that's captured during the course of the game if you didn't capture it in the previous game.

Meh, Socom for the PS2 had voice activated commands and I felt like even more of an awkward geek than normal. Repeating certain lines from a game is going to be weird, and I can't imagine anybody not just using the controller that they already have in their hand to select things faster.

The guys on stage at E3 said that the main reaper badguy in 2 is a weapon you can control in 3.

That means there will be others and ship combat.

Damn, wish I could unsee this post. A bit of a spoiler for me.

Mass Effect looks awesome. Will be a day one purchase for me (on PC). Kinect seems like a waste of time, but it won't be an issue for me.

Lots of interesting stuff in those trailers & walkthroughs.

Garrus & Liara definitely squadmates.
Mordin & Wrex & Ashley & Legion in game but not confirmed squaddies.
Ashley no longer looks like a dog.
Cerberus is working with the Reapers, one aspect of the game is to find out why.
Normandy 2 is back and seems to be playing a roll as a weapon (targeting laser?).

If you've been approaching the ME series as Bioware's take on an action game, instead of an RPG-purist's wet dream, then this game is looking like its gonna be the tits.

I think ME3 looks good from what we've seen so far. It seems they didn't radically change the stuff that worked well in ME2. After the DA2 fiasco, where Bioware changed the good stuff from DA:O to the worse, that's not given.

I am slightly worried though about the focus. If they bring back virtually everyone from ME1 and ME2 in one game - that's a lot of companions to keep track of! Still though, I do appreciate the approach, since everyone are bound to have their own favorites.

If you're carrying over your save game from ME1/2 a lot of your potential companions may already be dead.

That's true. In my case though, only two companions from ME1, and one from ME2 died. So potentially I'm looking at some 11 companions for a start - then comes the added newcomers in ME3. I thought the crowd was getting rather big in ME2 already.

Spoiler warning:

If I'm not mistaken, there's actually the possibility that everyone survives ME1 save for one (Ashley or Keidan) and that every companion survives ME2.

I certainly applaud Bioware for not simply writing companions out of the series - I just hope there'll be resources for enough interaction with each one, given how many there are.
