I never said smoking pot is akin to cutting arms off with a chainsaw. That would be ridiculous. I understand some people may want to subconsciously or consciously interpret what I meant incorrectly so that they may feel superior because their mind is always trying to make themselves feel good about themselves by making others sound ridiculous, but that doesn't make their interpretation correct.

I said the argument that smoking pot is less harmful than drinking alcohol or using harder drugs is akin to the difference between cutting arms off with a chainsaw and 44 magnum rounds to the head.

One is more harmful, and the other is less harmful. My intent was to show that just because something is less harmful than something else, that doesn't make it not harmful at all, nor a good idea to do.

Oh and by the way if anyone is purposefully misrepresenting what other people say to win an argument they should be ashamed of themselves. As should those who engage in argumentum ad lapidem.

Oh, please. Just admit that you made a stupid & inflammatory analogy, move on. Your childish attempts to defend it are embarrassing to witness.

Unwillingness to acknowledge mistakes is a serious character flaw that's apparently difficult to overcome for all too many people.

Because it fucked up somebody very close to me very badly. That person has never recovered and the incident happened in the 90s. Being mind fucked for life is a pretty horrible way to exist.

Anything can happen I guess, but it sounds pretty unlikely. When you take in marijuana smoke, the psychoactive compounds get into your blood via the lungs and make their way to your brain. THC finds cannabinoid receptors and activates them. This happens naturally via normal processes as well, our bodies have natural molecules that activate these receptors. THC is metabolized pretty quickly and the results wear off (without smoking more). Like I said, I guess anything can happen, but I just don't see marijuana being the cause of this person's issues. Did they have an anxiety attack or something?

Pot can and does create panic attacks and lifetime generalized anxiety disorders in those with a genetic predisposition.

The point being? There are all sorts of "genetic predispositions" that can render otherwise safe things dangerous. If we banned everything that a "genetic predisposition" made dangerous for some small number of people, all of humanity would literally would be reduced to living naked in the wild.

Well let's see if we can piece this together. Bshole has said it was someone close them and in this post he says, "All it takes is a genetic susceptibility and then access to the drug. That genetic susceptibility is present in my family."

So if a relative that Bshole was close to had a mental breakdown and blamed it on pot, that may explain why he lets his kids do whatever they want but he draws the line at drugs and also why he is so afraid of "having a stoner kid living in the basement playing video games for the rest of my life"

So from the sounds of it, he had a stoner relative with mental issues and its easier to blame pot than admit that mental disorders run in his family. But....but then again what if he is just lying because he thinks its a justified cause?

I have a genetic predisposition to have extremely high cholesterol.

Because of this, we must BAN all fried foods. I don't want to see it, smell it, hear it, or be around it. And since I can't trust other people to respect my wishes, it just needs to be prohibited.

I know many people don't have problems with high cholesterol, but I do, and that's what matters, so nobody else should get to enjoy it if I can't.

Firearms are used to commit murder by people who have a genetic predisposition toward violence (or who just had an abusive childhood). So I guess that means that firearms should be banned.

your stupidity makes me want to punch babies, so I guess you should be banned :awe:

Your inability to follow a totally logical line of reasoning from bshole's premise (things should be banned if they cause people with special predispositions to do bad things) to just one consistent conclusion (my example about firearms) makes me very sad. So I guess you should be banned, too.

I do not want to ban drugs and have never wanted to ban drugs. I am 100% opposed to the drug war and have been so since the mid-80s. That is one of the bedrocks of my worldview.

I was just saying that POT can have severe side effects for a small minority. It is not all good for all people.

I was agreeing with you jerkface.

I agree with that. Just like alcohol or nicotine, there are some people that just can't tolerate it.

Were they all out of him at the jerk store?
