No, you just aren't open minded enough to understand so why waste my time? Frankly, Scarlet, I don't give a damn what you and the other immature little punks think. :p

I'm more open minded than you think. Take a shot at explaining it, I'm all ears.

No one is advocating leaving anything up to the states exclusively. Or at least I am not.

My opinion is that if this legislation is an example of politicians running rough-shod over the will of their constituents, that there are tools built in to override them, and that they should not fear to use them.

Also, equating slavery to health care is hardly fair. The lack of health care does not so grossly abridge one's liberty. Slavery is to liberty what murder is to life. Health care, in the end, is secondary.

Well then all these little whiners need to call there state legislators and tell them to pass laws against it. I don't think they will get to first base in most places because I personally don't think they are going against the will of the people. I think the vast majority of the people want health care reform.

I'm not equating health care to slavery. There may be some comparisons that could be made but that wasn't my point. My point is there are cases where the country's right to pass moral legislation outweighs the states right to do whatever it wants. Salvery is just one of those examples as is discrimination and IMO, health care is also one of those cases.

No, you're all mouth. You explain your side instead of pretending that you have me on the run. I've explained myself rather well and you're still whining like a little bitch.

You haven't explained shit, you dolt. I asked you half a dozen times now to explain your sig to me and you refuse because you know its a clear case of someone supporting state's rights and being against big federal government, and you dont want to admit it.

He has been dodging the same question forever now. I think that he thinks he is scoring points by calling me stupid and refusing to answer a simple question.

Yopu can interpret it any way you want. To me it's just another clear case of GOP hypocrisy.

They call us the United States, not the Ununited States, you dolt. :p

State's rights.

Case closed.

LOL

So you have no problem with stripping health insurance companies of their exemption from federal antitrust laws.

And just to be clear, an individual state is under no obligation to establish insurance exchanges, however, if they refuse to do so the Fed will establish an exchange in that state.

Yah see, there's this thing called the Commerce Clause. Are you representing that health coverage stops at state lines?

Good luck with that :D

How does someone NOT buying insurance effect the commerce clause?
How does someone NOT buying wheat effect the commerce clause? How doe someone NOT buying marijuana effect the commerce clause? Stranger things have been spewn from the mouths of SCOTUS Justices...

You call that an argument?? Quit being such a "dolt". It's glaringly obvious to most that healthcare needed to be reformed. It was a major plank in Obama's paltform and now it has passed and is on it's way. Too bad, so sad. Get over it and quit sniveling like a little girl.

Why should people from one state have different (better?) health care then people in another state? That is not the way a country works, at least not one that plans on exisiting for long. Everybody needs to be able to afford healthcare just as they need to be able to afford food.

As good old Ben Franklin once said, “We must all hang together or most assuredly we will all hang separately.”

That's all you have to say??? After all the swaggering you were doing??

LOL, you remind me of a spoiled little kid with their fingers in there ears yelling "Nana na nana, I can't hear you :p "

I'm done wasting my time with an ignorant "dolt" such as yourself. Buh-bye.

Exactly. That's why people pinning hope on the states suing the government over this plan are probably in for a big disappointment.

Even if the suit is successful, only the mandate will be truck down, not the entire reform. And the mandate can be reworded as a tax increase for all with a rebate for those who buy insurance. It's not like the federal government is really breaking new ground here.

no, that would be new ground - had they done it in the first place... it would mean that they had been honest and forthcoming that this is a new tax - on everyone...

As long as they work to control the costs while providing the best healthcare possible, what's wrong with that?

The bill is going to be law. Instead of arguing about it like a bunch of little kids we should be disscussing the nut's and bolts of how to cut costs. Otherwise this could turn into nothing but another rip-off of the taxpayer, like the S&L bailout or the money we gave to the banks for investing in crap they knew better to invest in.

How does someone NOT buying insurance effect the commerce clause?

In addition to the Commerce Clause there is an economic argument that goes like this:

Uninsured/Underinsured persons represent a significant cost to the overall delivery of care - compelling them to maintain a minimum standard of coverage reduces the financial burden they formally placed on the system.

This is an extreme example: The Octo-Mom.

I imagine the Fed and the State of Cal took a pretty big hit on that one.

so basically you are saying that the existing bill is a turd and will need huge revision to be of value? interesting change of tune...

but i agree with you on your premise... the gov't needs to start a hc jobs program, maybe on the order of the military training corpsmen, to rapidly ramp up staffing in er's and quick care places with level one medical assistant types... maybe this is the new ccc for our era?

LOL, put words in someone else's mouth. I said this bill is a start, I hope a good start but with turdblossoms like you around it could turn into exactly what you fear. Either you're part of the problem, or part of the solution. Which are you??

i'm just a poor schmuck trying to figure out wtf is going on... and my taxes are going to be part of the solution, so i'm all in... it seems to be you who are all blabber about how wonderful it all is, except for all the things that aren't...
