Honestly at this point I have no idea what the truth is. I will say that if Te'O and Tuiasosopo are in love (which I've always thought made the most sense of any explanation), it would not be surprising for Tuiasosopo to take all the heat for this in the interest of protecting Te'O's draft prospects and career. It is interesting that Tuiasosopo has admitted he is gay and has feelings for Te'O, in any case.
 
I hope manti can develop a thick skin because he's given every offensive lineman in the league a lifetime of material to throw at him on the field. And honestly, I dont want my team picking him in the draft. Let someone else take him. Prior to this whole ordeal, I wanted him on my team pretty badly. I considered him the possible second-coming of Seau.

I know its not as bad coming out today than it was 20 or even 10 years ago but to say it would not hurt would be false. Let alone he be the "gay" player not just a player.
 
Jumping to the conclusion that Te'o is gay still makes absolutely no sense. He (and everyone else around him) believed that he was in a relationship with a woman.

As has been said repeatedly in this thread, I think Occam's Razor supports the notion that Te'O is lying. That doesn't necessarily mean he is, but you have to accept a lot of wildly unlikely "facts" to believe him.
 
If he is gay and comes out he would end up being one of the most famous football players ever, regardless of his abilities. Ratings would probably spike too.

Read the transcripts and watch the tapes, and any sane individual would come to the conclusion that ...

Well, let's just say you would have to be a little naive to believe anything that Manti says, and leave it at that.
 
Applying Occam's razor means Te'o is lying. Why is up in the air. There are simply too many WTF scenarios to believe him.

That being said there's really no "reasonable" scenario here. It's all completely fucked up.

OK, so he lied. He's gay? That's an odd way to cover it up.
OK, so he lied. Just to gain favor in the Heisman polls to maybe get a higher draft rank?
OK, so he didn't lie and never met this woman he dated for 3 years, didn't visit her in the hospital, didn't go to her funeral?

All of these are WTF scenarios.
