Yes, it's a huge deal to land Peyton. But like Denny Green says "If you want to crown their their ass, then crown 'em", but I'm not entirely sold. He didn't play a single game last year. Let's look at QB rating starting with 2004-2005 season

121
104
101
98
95
100
92

So yes, he is still pretty dang good as only 8 QBs had a better than 92 rating last year and only 4 were above 100. Plus he'll be outdoors where it will be cold and windy. Better than Tebow's 75 career rating though :)

Sure, it would have been great for the niners to get him since I live in the Bay Area, but he's not guaranteed to bring 1-3 rings in the next 3-4 years like some people think.

Yeah I would rather him not go to the niners, they would be sure fire top dawgs in the NFC. I mean Alex Smith lit up our sub-par defense in the playoffs, Manning would have had a field day

Also would Randy Moss and Manning really get along?

I don't watch sports (or tv) but I thought teebow was good? Why trade him? Seems like Broncos got a lot hype and money with teebow.

I am going to go on public record:

I was wrong. Manning did not retire and (in all likelihood) will not take a coaching job this year.

I think he is a great asset to Denver and Denver is a great choice for him. Judging by the leadership shown by the Colts, he will be much better off in Denver.

I would love to see him and the Broncos dominate. I will not magically be a Broncos fan but I will continue to admire Peyton. Plus...how often do you get to see a true great like Manning play for a legend like Elway?

but no Superbowl rings

Hype means nothing other than too many expectations.

While we're baring our souls, I will say that I will follow and cheer for the Broncos this year and yes, the only reason is because Manning is there. People can call me a bandwagoner and they might be right. :D

Didn't he just sign up and start recently? Seems premature but maybe elway saw something he didnt care for.

I'm sure you won't be alone.

Manning is one of the all time greats. Sure lil bro has more rings but I'm really starting to wonder if that wasn't more of a leadership problem. Elway went out with a bang...maybe Peyton will too? Heck...he very easily could retire with 5 rings (I'm not saying he will, just that it is possible)

I'm armcharing here, Elway is much more informed than me.

Superbowl wins mean everything. Followed by playoff wins, regular season wins and then "hype". I never thought Tebow was bad but I was never on the Tebow wagon either. He's 3 years into his career and if the leadership doesn't feel he's a fit, then now would be a great time to cut ties.

Plus when he goes to the Eagles, it will make for a hell of a season!

I won't be surprised if he never wins another. While I think the AFC is pretty weak and he has a decent shot at making one or two more Super Bowls, I think the NFC might be just too powerful for him to win multiple SBs. You've got the Niners, Giants, Packers, Saints, and Lions and you can't count the Eagles, Cowboys, and Bears out.

I think the Bears should make a 3 or 4 way deal happen that brings Tebow to Chi-town and lands Cutler with a QB-needy franchise.

I'm sure the Bears could get Tebow, a 1st rounder (plus some later picks), and some defensive (or O-line) depth out of a deal like that. And wouldn't Tebow be perfect when the weather gets bad in Chicago? They could almost run a wishbone.

It all depends on how the Broncos o-line protects him. He took very few hard hits at Indy. Now he is damaged goods because of his neck issues. If the o-line can protect him... cause we all know Peyton doesn't scramble.. he will do good. But you know he is going to have a bulls eye on his chest and defenses will key on that.

LOL won't happen. i would love it but no.

IF they got Tebow they would trade cutler for a linebacker and safety. Then wonder why the fuck Tewbow gets sacked 1000 times. and lovie would shrug and smile all the time.

LOL. You realize Cutler was having an excellent year when he wasn't getting his head taken off from a pourous O-Line and Mad Martz playcalling? They were 7-3 with him only losing to GB, NO, and Detroit. Three playoff caliber teams and two with superbowls in the last 3 years. Before he went down with that hand injury they were well on their way to 12+ win season.

Tebow? Please no.

nononnonono NO! Why? WHY go to Denver when the 49ers are STACKED and only need an elite QB to take them over the top?? Now I can't even root for him until Tebow is officially off the team, and even then I'll still have a sour taste in my mouth. But if Tebow somehow remains on the team as a backup I have no choice but to root against you, sorry Pey.

yea, I'm surprised that he didn't want the best shot at another ring. You would think with only a few seasons left he would take his best shot at getting one more.

EVEN with the terrible O-line cutler did ok. just think if he had receivers and protection!

AFC was considered to be pretty weak back in the 2000 time frame
