If you don't think Peyton is good, and say that it was the running game that really gave the offense wings, consider first that 1. it was raining so any aggressive passing game is moot and 2. Peyton calls a significant amount of plays from the line. In the huddle the offensive coordinator (Moore) gives him 3+ plays to give out to the offense, and then he chooses based on the defense he sees. From what little I can recall of Marino's career, he was not nearly as much of a field general as Manning is.
Also, keeping an offense on the field for that much time and consistently engineering drives of 10+ plays like that is a matter of skill. If you don't believe me, just ask Rex Grossman.
