i still think Brady is better than both.

his long game is sick.

I think Brady is better than manning, but not Marino. Why? For one, Brady is a hard guy to pressure. not because of the O line, but he can be a very dangerous guy to blitz at times. That said... I do think Manning has better accuracy, but that's all he has on him.

If you don't think Peyton is good, and say that it was the running game that really gave the offense wings, consider first that 1. it was raining so any aggressive passing game is moot and 2. Peyton calls a significant amount of plays from the line. In the huddle the offensive coordinator (Moore) gives him 3+ plays to give out to the offense, and then he chooses based on the defense he sees. From what little I can recall of Marino's career, he was not nearly as much of a field general as Manning is.
Also, keeping an offense on the field for that much time and consistently engineering drives of 10+ plays like that is a matter of skill. If you don't believe me, just ask Rex Grossman.
If you disagree, give us more than your opinion.

I did not know that...

This article gives a pretty good insight into the Moore and Manning's relationship:

However, the fact I cited I learned from TV so I have no citation.

cool thanks

Well they are calling him the greatest NFL QB ever.

I thought Montana had that pretty well locked up.

Peyton's footwork is the best I've ever seen. He sets his feet so quickly into another throwing position than he anticipated at the start of the play. He's absolutely incredible at that and it's my belief that it's what makes him so good. He never throws off his back leg, his feet are always set to throw even in the face of a blitz, he sets his feet lightning quick. It also allows him to hit people in stride like few do. Watch how his recievers catch the ball, they are almost always in full stride.

Manning didn't really deserve the MVP. Should have gone to Rhodes, but of course Peyton will get it based on his name and reputation alone.

i dont' remember him having his feet set for that TD throw tonite, but it was an incredible play nevertheless.

Peyton is definitely one of the best QB's in NFL history at this time, anyone that denies him that just doesn't watch any football.

to say that he is greater than marino, that's an opinion but i'm not sure it's one i can agree with.

Yeah well, it is kinda tough to set your feet when someone is hanging onto you, 🙂

DUDE MANNING PROVED TO ALL HATERS THAT HE IS THE MAN!!!

HE MADE 2 key throws tonight when the bears actually broke through the O line.

HE RULES

why not addai over rhodes?

Rhodes won the MVP hands down. The MVP is nothing but a popularity contest these days.

interesting. He had a great game.

A friend of mine said it best, the 2 headed RB attack is like the same actor being nominated for best actor at the Oscars, voters don't know who to choose. I think the same thing might've happened here.
Except Peyton has all the name and star power, so who knows.

Manning has a long way to go in his career so in the end he will be statistically better than Marino. There are a few things Peyton Manning does that are so flawless.

1. Reads the defense better than ANY QB in the league. Outside of Tom Brady can you name another QB that can read the defenses like him?

2. Accurate Pin point passing- particularly on the fade route. Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison are absolutely incredible receivers but Manning puts the ball there in a way that they can make the play.

3. Footwork. There aren't any of these like 20 step drops I keep seeing from other QB's. He goes to his set drop and has an extremely fast set and release.

Manning has it all going for him. The only thing he really doesn't have is an extremely strong arm. He has very nice touch on what he does throw, but he does not possess a Brett Farve cannon or (barring accuracy) a Michael Vick arm.

manning has plenty strong of an arm, it might not be Favre (but on the other hand, people claim Grossman does have a Favre type arm) but that's not necessary in order to win.

Manning has more than enough arm strength to throw whatever pass is necessary to win.

More times than not, yes. But his arm is not as strong as Favre or Vick. He is more accurate by far than both of them, but just something to point out.

(Grossman is mainly bad footwork and bad reads. He is constantly throwing on his back foot. And he is also bad at reading defenses. His check-downs could be a better also.)

I think Grossman's checkdown CHOICES are fine, I just think it takes him much too long to get to them.

Exactly which is why they end up short of an open receiver half the time and he ends up throwing right down the middle of the field off his back foot because he is being rushed.

Do you know how easy it is to have a 1000 yd rusher ??
All you need is 66 yds per game.

Well, in Marino's 17 year career, he had 1 1000 yd rusher playing with him.
It was Karim Abdul-Jabbar with a paltry 1100 yds and a 3.6 yd per carry.
And this was late in his career too.

While I do think Manning is great, he flopped with a great running every year until this year.

which is an interesting way of making a point, Manning for the first time doesn't have a serious running game (altho addai improved and rhodes was rhodes). and guess what, he won the superbowl.

and btw, where is edge this year?

Edge would be in Arizona (Cardinals) doing nothing because the Arizona Offensive line can't block for him.

Manning and Brady both have played on better overall teams than Marino ever did. This "have to win a Superbowl to validate your career" crap is just that: Crap.

Hey, Phil Simms won two Superbowls....is he better than Marino, too? Or did he just also happen to have a defense that had LT?

What about Elway? If he had retired before his last two seasons and not had a title, would that have made him any less of a QB?

Peyton has been throwing to his main receiver basically his whole career, and handing off to basically two RB's his whole career so far.
Now look who Marino had to throw to in the same amount of time, and who he had running the ball...and still putting up those ridiculous numbers when the whole offense WAS Marino..and tell me Peyton's better just because he got one title.
