Manafort pleading out at 11:00 AM EST

I know this was separate but I saw reported he also may have agreed to plead out the other ones as well. Which didn't make sense as that would not have entered into this one at all even as part of a plea deal.

It's actually the opposite, as part of this deal Mueller agreed to drop the hung charges from Virginia. So basically Manafort ends up with getting hit with 10 total charges, the 8 he was convicted on already and these 2 new ones. The rest go away.

Crazy theory, but what if the cooperation agreement is a trap? Like Mueller says "You're going to agree to cooperate but there's actually nothing you have that we want." and it's just a plot to get Trump to do something stupid.

I doubt it. Too many people would see that as negotiation in bad faith. Even if Manafort has nothing Mueller does not already know Mueller wants him to collaborate his evidence. The more sources you can get to collaborate evidence the more weight it carries. If he is going after someone in Trumps inner circle he is going to want to have a lot of collaboration for the evidence.

The govt may well have agreed not to pursue the charges left in limbo by the hung jury in Alexandria. We'll know more as this unfolds. Pleas with cooperation agreements usually indicate delayed sentencing based on completion of such cooperation. If prosecutors indicate non-cooperation then max sentencing usually ensues because the guilty plea already stands. The cooperation agreement would be interesting reading.

With any cooperation deal, a "proffer" is made by the defendant, meaning he has already told Mueller everything, at least in broad strokes. If the more detailed version he provides later doesn't match, the deal is off.

Govt seizing 46 million in assets. There goes the cost argument for ending the Mueller investigation.

Wait until we get to Trump, then we'll be making real money off of this...

... If you believe Trump is actually worth $10B...ahahahaha

At the very least, they could federally prosecute him on the crimes he is not being prosecuted for but is offering testimony in court that he committed as well as bringing to trial the counts from the last hearing that the jury was hung on. But I like the state prosecution option @fskimospy illustrated better since they basically have him dead to rights with his testimony, and no federal executive action can stop it.

We are also forgetting the possibility that Manfort has physical evidence to offer Mueller. If this agreement involves turning over emails, documents, tapes, etc. to the prosecution, then any way he violates the deal can't take that away. There's also possibility that his proffer has led to them discovering new evidence to further the investigation.

Overall, I feel pretty certain that Mueller & team have thought about all the ways this could go south, and would not have made the deal without feeling confident they would get significant value from Manafort even if he were pardoned or backed away from the agreement.

I have to say I am impressed at how well Mueller seems to have maneuvered around the pardon issue. Smart cookie.

I want to see "Trump International" in DC converted to a free boarding house for undocumented immigrant single transgender mothers.

I was thinking all his assets are forfeited and split to the "non existent" people of Puerto Rico to rebuild after he did nothing for them, and then some to the kidnapped immigrant children so they can find their parents again.

All of this would be swell and good, but I fear that his "$10 billion wealth" is actually about $500 million debt when all is said and done. Not enough (any) to spread around to where it needs to go.

Remember when Giuliani said this was all wrapping up soon. And they wanted it wrapped up soon. Yeah... Manafort just started cooperating so. This ain't over Rudy.

Do you remember that TV show DuckTales on Disney? I imagine a vault like that at the bottom of Trump Tower, but instead of full of gold coins, it's filled with a bunch of IOUs, fake Time magazine covers, and a few loose rubles instead.

Manafort has flipped.
Popadopoulos has flipped.
Flynn has flipped.
Gates has flipped.
Cohen is willing to flip.

Whatever conclusions Mueller's report contains will be hard to view as anything but incontrovertible.

This is the outcome I'd like to see for him.

I get the feeling that Mueller already have in hand all of the Trump financial data his team needs to nail Trump and his Russian oligarch financiers to the Wall of Shame and Infamy.

All I'm wondering about now is what the Trump Clan will have left in their piggy bank after Mueller gets through with them.
