Man of Steel Trailer

nope, will take a miracle to be truly good

superman is one of the dumbest comic-book characters of all time

he's way too powerful and his only weakness is way too convenient and thus any conflicts seem way too contrived

Doctor Manhattan from Watchmen makes a far more interesting ultra powerful character. But they won't rewrite Superman in a similar fashion simply because he's just far too ingrained already to be well received by the diehard fans.

they scaled back supermans power a lot. he used to be insanely powerful. That is one of the reasons i never got into him. though i did enjoy it when Batman and him would pair up. the conflict between them was great.

I agree 100%
Superman is the most boring comic character there is. Too strong and too straight laced, he has no interesting aspects to his character.

It's not that he's too powerful, it's because none of the movies ever had a good villain.

Synopsis of most superman movies:

Beginning: Superman saves people from really heavy object.
Middle: Superman saves people from really really heavy object.
End: Superman, in a weakened state, saves people from the heaviest object in the movie.
THE END.

Now if they actually put a good villain like Darkseid, Apocalypse, or Brainiac in the movies then I could see it becoming pretty awesome.

That or take one of the good story arcs from the comics and turn it into a movie.

Looks good for a Superman project. In general I find Superman boring because he's essentially an invulnerable god, and doesn't have an emotionally interesting back story. As a result the Superman movies during my lifetime, including the Reeve movies and the dreadful Superman Returns, have all struck me as corny. This looks grittier and more interesting to me. We shall see . . .

What?
ONE FUCKING movie, and they reboot already?

Maybe hollywood needs to look into the 10 million plus books already in print and see if theres any original ideas there.
Assclowns!

Saw these on Collider earlier, and I think it could be interesting. It looks like they're going for a Batman Begins sort of story given all the scenes they showed with Clark trying to live a normal life (i.e. find himself). So, it could be a weird mix between the mental aspect of Batman Begins and Spider-Man 2.

This. Superman movies wouldn't seem so corny if they actually had threatening villains like Darkseid or Doomsday. I hope they stay away from Lex Luthor and kryptonite this time.
