The McDonald's menu isn't the same as it was when Spurlock made his film; more and different food items have been added.

  1. 2
The food portions and the way the food is prepared have been altered since 2004.

This guy is watching his intake; he's eating small fries and Diet Cokes. Spurlock's was pointing out what overeating at a fast food place can do to your body.

Decent idea, but he seems to be discounting Spurlock's work. He's comparing two different menus, not to mention Spurlock's height, weight and family history. There are many factors to consider, not just "working out or not".

This guy's data may be more accurate if he could eat what Spurlock ate and work out.

Link? I hadn't heard that. I thought they were still using the same type of grease (which is essentially the worst grease you can possibly use, but it's also the cheapest)

Also I'm fairly sure that he did not do this to disprove Spurlock or to emulate his experiment at all. His work was clearly inspired by the movie, but he didn't make any attempt at comparison. The point is that exercise is the way to health, independent of what food you eat I guess

There's a woman who did something similar last year. There's no doubt that Spurlock took it too far to make a point, but this new guy's study isn't all that scientific either.

Found it:
Mother ate at restaurant chain for 90 days ? and claims she lost 37 pounds

Edit - according to the article Spurlock was eating 5000 calories a day, which is simply absurd. 5000 calories of almost anything per day over 30 days will seriously fvck up your health.

christ.... i could only imagine what the fat slut ate before she started eating mcdonald's to lose weight.... $50 says she was an atot poster before her mcdonald's experiment.

if you eat something extremely unhealthy for a long period of time, you'll get fat. if you eat something slightly less dusgustingly unhealthy for 90 days, you'll lose weight because your body isn't used to it.

it's kinda like the light beer diet. lots of frat guys do it. they switch to light beer and drop like 20 lbs. does that mean light beer is good for you? hell no. it just means that you were extremely disgusting before you started your diet.

the difference between this dumb cow and spurling is that spurling was a fit, attractive guy before his experiment. he ate normal, healthy food and lived a normal lifestyle.... he got unhealthy because mcdonald's is disgusting, high calorie food that isn't good for a normal body.

this disgusting broad was a fatass who had a higher calorie intake than mcdonald's provided (which is still higher than acceptable). no wonder she lost weight. now that she lost the weight, if she keeps eating this mcdonald's food, she'll pack on the weight again and be confused as to why she LOST weight by eating this garbage and then why she ended up GAINING weight by doing the same thing from which she lost the weight.

spurlock may have eaten too much, but you go in a busy mc'deez during lunch and you will probably see some people who get pretty close to what he was eating. what is more interesting about the film is the breakdown of typical mc'deez customers. they have a term for the people that eat there 3 or more times a week, "heavy users" or something, I thought it was fitting, and that was like 22% of the business. so 1 in 5 people who you see there eat way too much fast food, and that is only mc donalds, they probably eat other fast food also.

the point it fast food is garbage food, that is Spurlocks ultimate point and I don't think anyone can prove otherwise.

Bullshit.
No one eats the fattiest meal on the menu for all three meals. FAR from typical.
Fast food is garbage food is a typical lame ass generalization. Yes, greasy cheeseburgers, fries, and coke is garbage food. However, fast food is not just greasy food. You can get grilled chicken sandwhiches, salads, turkey sandwhiches, and loads of other healthy foods from fast foods.
There's as much garbage food from non fast foods as there is for fast foods.
You can get the same fried garbage from classy restaurants.
A chicken fettucini alfredo will have far more fat and cholesterol than a cheeseburger.
Objective thinking FTW!

It was all hype and spin? Lol, what, do you work for McDonalds?

How is eating 5,000 cals a day for a movie, McD's or anything else, not hype and spin?

Not a bad way to goad the ignorant and naive into watching and launching his entertainment career, though, because that's what his "documentary" was, entertainment.

People are stupid and will believe anything they're told.

Did anyone bother to read the FAQ on the website? I like this guy, he basically says that if you excercise regularly, eat a variety of foods, and don't overeat, you can enjoy pretty much any kind of food you want. Sounds true to me. The SuperSize Me movie placed too much blame on McDonalds, claiming that McDonald's is the reason that people are fat. This guy created this website to discredit that misrepresentation.

There are hundreds of thousands of college kids out there who aren't on the brink of death who eat at least one meal daily at fast food joints. I'm one of them. I've lost weight and gotten healthier since starting this (a result of lifestyle changes, NOT what I'm eating, which is, decidedly, worse.) - This is not news.

The average week will consist of:
2 meals - Subway 6"
1 meal - Subway 12"
1 - Pizza buffet (avg. 12 slices, though I've hit 24 in one impromptu competition)
1 - Sit-down pizza restaurant
1 - Dennys
1 - McDonalds
2 - Wendys
1 - Panera Bread
4 - Glorious home-cooked pwn

The balance are skipped meals.

Spurlock did not simply "over eat." He force fed himself. He ate past the point of not only being full, past the point of not only feeling stuffed, but to the point of feeling ill on a regular basis.

Spurlock showed us NOTHING but the same thing that happens to geese when force fed to make Foie Gras. Even the obese in America do not force feed themselves. They stop when stuffed and do not eat past the point of feeling physically ill.

Spurlock's movie placed all the blame on McDonalds and none on his intentional deception.

He did not eat nearly as much as the guy did in supersize me.

This guy made sure to count calories, and excercise to compensate, like a dieter would.
Spurlock went in like average joe - get a extra value meal, and super size it if they ask to, and then sit on his ass afterwards.

Both have the results we would expect.

Dude, it's just stupid to think you can eat McDonalds for a year and be healthy. Just stupid. Most NORMAL people can't do that. Most NORMAL people don't even get 3 hours of exercise a week. Supersize Me may have been over the top, but it's not far from the truth, nor is it media spin. Eating Fast Food = Your health is at great risk.

Eating OBSCENE amounts of fast food = your health is at great risk.

McDonald's has grilled chicken, salads, and water. How is that any less healthy than any other restaurant? How are McDonald's or any other fast food burgers any less healthy than the burgers at sit down restaurants?

It is not. It is beef and chicken, just like we all eat at home. The beef and chicken served at McDonald's is not somehow less healthy than any other beef and chicken.

This unreasonable hate of McDonald's and blame game is absurd.

Actually, McDonald's has done a huge turn on its menu. You should have a look sometime. McDonad's has done a lot of work to try and stop being a massive grease pit.

Spurlock did NOT eat like "the average Joe." Spurlock ate PAST the point of being physically ill on a regular basis. He force fed himself. Something even the obese do not do. People with eating disorders and over eaters in general eat for comfort, not pain. Spurlock ate until it was painful and kept on eating. No one does that.

And ALL of his medical symptoms were in line with force feeding.

Considering McDonalds completely revamped their menu after this movie, id say it made its point. I didnt even watch the stupid thing, i dont need to be told greesy burgers and frys will make you fat and unhealthy.

McDonalds had grilled chicken and salads before Spurlock did his farce. They've had salads since 1985 alone. To say there was nothing healthy to eat when Spurlock did his farce is absurd.

Also, Spurlock force fed himself. He ate past the point of feeling physically ill on a regular basis. This is the same thing farmers do to geese to enlarge their liver to make foie gras.

Finally, McDonald's new menu items are far more in response to the competition than they are to this absurd bit of fallacious propaganda.

Again, try thinking for yourself.

"Super heavy users", IIRC.

I think "Heavy Users" was defined as people who eat the slop three times or more a day.

So if you were to eat this stuff three times a day, you will have the same effects Spurlock did, albeit over a longer time to take its course on your bloated corpse.

Peace
