A man accidentally shot himself in the testicles at Lowe's Home Improvement store in Lynnwood Sunday afternoon, police said. The man's handgun, which was in the waistband of his pants, went off at about 12:30 p.m. — an apparent "accidental discharge," according to Shannon Sessions, a Lynnwood police spokeswoman. "It made a loud noise and scared a lot of people in the store," Sessions said. "I believe he shot himself in the testicles and he also had some injuries to his leg and foot. He was obviously in shock." Nobody else was hurt and no one appeared to be with the man, she said. Police and fire responded, and the man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle before police had a chance to interview him extensively. Sessions had no further details about the man. Lynnwood police are continuing to investigate but "at this point it does look like it's accidental," Sessions said. A manager at Lowe's said store personnel are not commenting on the incident. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2011994648_accident31m.html

1) No details on cause of incident
2) Wild accusation that CCW is bad

haha, dumbass. Who the hells carries a handgun tucked into the waist of their pants?

Didn't plaxico do the same thing (minus the testicles part)?

So who does he sue? Loews? The maker of the gun? The maker of the pants? His parents for what are obviously a defective set of genes?

Yep. Locked and loaded semi auto in the waistband. Glocks don't have a safety.

Sigh, great, more reasons for them to try to put stronger ccw laws in place here in WA.

And to the person who said that only idiots would carry in their waistband - The majority of concealed carry is IWB - In waistband. If you do it right, you should NEVER have an accidental discharge. The likelihood in this case is that he probably was carried unsafetied and had one already in the chamber, single action. I can see no probably way how this happened without him grabbing for it though or a malfunction.

I have a single action kimber - It has a manual lever safety, as well as a grip safety, I carry loaded and cocked.

The only possible way that it could go off is if I both somehow deactivated the lever safety and had pressure on the back of the grip. The chances of this happening are nearly 0.

Double actions also require a significant amount of pressure to both chamber and fire the round.

Darwin Award recipient in training.

If his testicles survived to see another day, yep.

If he shot himself to the point of shooting blanks or sterile in general... I say, he may prove to be one of the first Darwin Award winners not awarded posthumously.

Because if he's sterile, he is without ability to contribute to the gene pool.

Unless he already has kids. :hmm:

There's a big difference carrying a gun inside your waistband and carrying it in an inside the waistband holster.

A handgun without a safety switch seems kinda stupid imo. Am I missing something?

And what is CCW? Sorry I'm a gun noob.

definitely nothing wrong with CCW.

but CCW with a round chambered in something you don't have 100% absolute faith in the safety mechanisms = FTL

personally, i'd never carry anything with a round chambered; but i can understand others feeling safe enough with a high quality firearm with multiple safety mechanisms.

this guy was probably carrying a hi-point or something.

Dumb. Don't let the bang-hook get pulled and no bang happens.

And this is why you always have a holster. If no holster then make sure there is a manual safety.

nowhere does it say he is a CCW holder.

why would you have it in your waistband and not a holster?

I'd say with certain guns yes. I feel safe enough with my kimber to carry it just in my waistband, but it's not something I normally do. Most holsters offer little protection for safety mechanisms but typically cover the trigger area.

It still completely baffles me as to how this could have happened in either case. I see no possible way you could have activated the trigger accidentally despite how little pressure it might require.

Conceal Carry Weapon. No safety, round in the chamber, no human error when pointing and firing. Glock holsters completely cover the trigger until pulled. Very safe.
