If you are talkoing TAS: TAS = [TA]-TAS + amd.borg + petrusbroder = 16 267.45 credits, or 61.6% of the TeAm's total ...

I think we should encourage RA to catch up and pass TAS - that way we would get higher in the ranks and more science crunched!

It's that 3.2 gig P4 of Mike's that wouldn't run Rosetta for some reason. It seems to work real nice on Malaria.
bty all I have running on this is half an Opty. The rest is coming from Patty,Mike and ,I think ,Bryan.
 
The TeAm is really rocking. from 44th place to 8th in just two weeks. :beer:

In a few more days I'll meet my (silly) personal goal of having 20 projects attached to my home PC with at least 200 points in each of those projects. As soon as I hit that goal, I'm going to drop the priority on all of the projects I don't really want to run to something like 5, and bump Malaria up to 300 or something similar so that virtually all of the cycles on that PC (Sempron 64 running at 2.2GHz) will go towards putting points back on my Malaria account. I also have my wife's home computer attached to the Malaria project but it's sharing cycles evenly between Rosetta, RALPH, QDC, and Malaria, so it isn't adding a significant number of points to Malaria. I might change the priorities on that machine to focus on Malaria but I do want to keep working on RALPH and QDC at least a little and I don't want to put those projects on any of my office machines...
 
Fardringle, you ared doing just great! I really like your approach! - Never thought that way! Just crunch on, it is much more fun that way! 🙂

Even small changes in temperature may contribute to the spread of malaria in the East African highlands, a new modelling study has found ? a result sharply contrasting with previous research.

The latest work suggests populations of malarial mosquitoes could grow substantially with just a small rise in temperatures. For example, the mathematical models suggest a 3% rise in local temperature from one year to the next can mean a 30% to 40% increase in mosquito abundance. Experts note the new research also uses five more years of temperature data from Africa that previous work did not.

Up to 2.7 million people die each year from malaria, and the majority of them are African children. Because areas of higher altitude are cooler, the mosquitoes that carry malaria have a tougher time reproducing there and spreading the illness. ?In the highlands, mosquito abundance is typically very low,? says ecologist Mercedes Pascual of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in the US.

But she says health officials have seen a rising number of malaria cases in these highland regions. In one dramatic example, the tea estates of Kericho in western Kenya saw a rise in severe malaria cases from 16 per 1000 people in 1986 to 120 per 1000 people in 1998.
