I'm guessing the discovery of a very Earth like planet somewhere else in the galaxy. Our count of planets outside the solar system has recently passed 1000...

Sad, but true. In astrophysics "perhaps a chance to support life, we'll never know for sure if it ever did or ever will" is about the biggest news possible. Unless they pick up a light source that is blinking out prime numbers it's going to be a snooze.
