By the way each movie costs neflix less than 2 dollars, on top of that its an expected overhead so its not a big deal to them. But go ahead turn him YOUR A HERO!

I am just mystified by this kind of attitude. I hope it serves you well when the mailman steals your shipment from Amazon.com, your new CPU from Newegg, or your latest purchase from eBay.

Hes not though hes stealing dvd's. Its not your job to snitch on him he hasnt taken your dvd's.

I've actually had to pay for three NetFlix movies that dissappeared in transit. I stopped putting them in my mailbox at the curb, and started taking them straight to the Post Office dropbox thinking they would be safer

I've had hard drives stolen from me shipping through Fedex. Ordered a video card and a HDD, from Newegg. Shipment came in a box that appeared to be retaped. I got a little nervous looking at the package, which when I had opened it the card was there though the hdd space was packed with brown packging paper that appeared to be pulled from the trash. A nice little scam from our lovely Fedex package handlers.

Though I'm sure if the people who knew him, and to whom he might try to sell it wouldn't care. That's because it doesn't effect them. I spend my hard earned money on product, I would easily turn someone in, if they showed me stolen property. Anyone who says differently will just have to wait until they are the victim, and they will change their minds fairly quickly.

It's a shame that *someone* has to be the victim to see that is is indeed wrong...

Sure rationalize it, Stealing HDDs from Big Bad Western Digital. No sir, that's from my pocket thank you.

Report him - congrats, you've done your civic duty.

Don't Report - congrats you're now an accessory after the fact.

Call a lawyer.

Now.

So if you watched him kill a 10 y.o kid you wouldn't do anything if the kid wasn't yours? A crime is a crime. We don't get to set degrees. People like you should all be sent off to an island somewhere so normal people don't have to associate with the like of your kind.

I wouldn't go THAT far. I do feel the OP has a moral responsibility to turn this guy in, but he's not an accessory if he elects not to do so. The law imposes no responsibility in this situation.

This has to be the most retarded logic I've heard all day. If everyone had this attitude the world would be like Vice City come to life.

Wow,

1. I can't believe people are still arguing over this. There were a few minor inconsistencies from the OP pointing to the fact that this situation was fabricated.

2. Yes, there is a difference in degree in laws, but some of you idiots don't seem to realize that. The "a law is a law" mentality is idiocy. If I see someone jaywalking, who cares. I'm not going to turn them in. But, if I see someone that I can identify shooting someone else, I sure as hell am going to turn him in.

3. This brings up #3. Does this level of crime warrant a reaction to turn the individual in? In my opinion, yes. Why?
a. severity of the crime - he has stolen hundreds of dvds
b. he is supposed to be a trusted public employee

I think someone pointed this out already - if it was a cop who was taking items from evidence, such as heroin, hard core drugs, handguns, etc., and was selling them to 12 year old children, would you alert authorities then? Personally, I have little trouble knowing when to mind my own business and when to alert authorities. I get the impression from a few people in this thread that "mind your own business" is a personal, 24/7 365 days a year rule. You suck.

Okay, so if he stole YOUR netflix movie and I knew about it, you wouldn't want me to turn him in because it was your movie and not mine. GREAT LOGIC!

How the hell do you figure that? You pay for netflix right? If 10% of their DVD's disapear, who dod you think pays for them? No one? New ones fall from the sky at the Netflix distrobution center? No. They raise prices which, you, me and every other Netflix user have to pay for.

Most retail outlets have between a 1 and 3% shrink. This means they must raise prices by 1-3% to cover for their losses. This means that if no one stole anything, prices would be up to 3% less for everything. If you make 30,000 a year then you are paying $900 a year of your own money to cover for what is stolen.

No matter how you figure it, if you use Netflix, you are paying for the movies this guy and others like him have in their personal boxes.

The guy is stealing and its wrong, stealing isnt right... But its not this guys CALLING to turn him in, there will not be a special party for him in heaven, no one will win. NET FLIX RIPS AND BURNS THERE OWN MOVIES, they buy the rights to do so, so its costing netflix the price of a dvd and shipping. WHO CARES ABOUT THIS IDIOT, stealing stupid dvd's mind your own business he will get caught ALL BY HIMSELF. You ATOT d-bags think everything, is so simple and things are just as easy as you have it, where im from when people stick there noses in the wrong business bad things happen, NO ONE likes a tattle tail the cops wont even take this serious. This is not an emergency, something DOES NOT have to be done, and things WILL work themselves out. And if this kid looses sleep over it HOLY FREAKIN COW grow the f' up.

Such sage words. Kids learn a lesson from this guy, if nothing else. If you turn in a mail man, who is obviously a Mafia KingPin, you will get your legs broken. I seriously doubt the police will even stop by if you report a theft, because they are all finishing up the last of the Dunken Donuts stock.

Oh and for reporting crimes, of the non-emergency status you can always just call your local sheriff or police department number. 911 is not the only number to reach law enforcement. Just an FYI of course. :)

I notice that a lot of you guys who say "don't turn him in" and "buy the movies" have heatware. Geez, if I traded here, you'd be on my DNT list. :|
