Mailman stealing Netflix Movies... I saw him!!!!

If you're worried about retaliation just wait a few weeks or a month and then report him anonymously. Enough time will have passed where they can't suspect it was you who turned him in.

You cant really feel bad for him, he doesn't give a crap about the hundreds of problems he has created for netflix customers. If you estimate that half of what he stole were DVD's being returned by customers, thats 100 DVD's 'lost in the mail' which the customer ends up having to pay for, which I think is like $20 or so.

Just give anonymous tip after a small time frame has passed.
 
Penalty: maximum penalty of 5 years in prison, followed by up to 3 years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine
 
I would definitely turn him in. Postal Crimes are a Felony for a reason. And all the customers are probably getting blamed for not turning back in their movies and such. We don't need people like that working to deliver (or in this case steal) our mail.

I'm all for minding your own business, but wtf? If he's stealing DVDs, who knows what else he could be stealing.
 
call netflix and ask them if they are missing any movies in the area u live in. then say u may know a potential thief and are turning them in. u just wanted to make sure on your assumption that the person was really a thief. maybe they will reward you plus you will feel good about makin a right decision in your life.
 
If you're comfortable with it, Confront him (with another person) on it. He's obviously in the wrong and deserves to go to jail, but if he'll quit and send the movies back to Netflix, at least he can stay out of jail.

then again I'm a little compassionate sometimes.
 
You're not the only person he's offered to sell these to, I'm sure. They won't know positively that you turned them in.

I'm a Netflix customer and I don't want the prices going up because of people like him, plus whoever those people were that didn't get their movies and have to keep reporting to Netflix that they didn't get them - Netflix is going to think that THEY are trying to scam them.

Report him to Netflix and let them proceed.

I'm bet they would be grateful and might give you a month or 2 for free.

Wow, I am the minority on this one. Buy some DVDs man. Lots of them, for cheap. If not, just turn him in, then download all the movies you want. Either way, you win!
 
Hell, technically it's postal theft and trafficking in stolen goods. He stole stuff (illegal) and then he's trying to sell the stolen property (also illegal)...

He might be working at a central sorting facility which can't trace out a single zipcode. Imagine it to be the facility on 8th Ave in Manhattan!
 
if you are worried about getting caught...call in weeks or months later and hope they dont realize its you. You might be the only person to hae seen the entire collection so they could finger you as a rat.

If you dont do anything about it, it iwll continue for years and years.
 
I feel so bad for that mailman... 200+ accounts of a felony. That guy could go away for the rest of his life over some DVDs.
 
here's the problem. when i lose my netflix dvds i get in trouble, no matter if they ever got to me or not. so if the mailman is stealing them after a certain amount netflix calls me up and suspends my account pending an investigation. at that point it's likely he'd get caught anyway, because they contact the postal inspector themselves (as well as requiring you to do the same). i know all this because every year around xmas i tend to not get a lot of movies. and once an inquiry to the postal inspector is made i start getting them again. fishy? yeah.

the point is, it's not only netflix he's screwing, it's the customers, because if someone loses enough movies they will suspend that account and possibly ask for reimbursement.
