the point is, it's not only netflix he's screwing, it's the customers, because if someone loses enough movies they will suspend that account and possibly ask for reimbursement.

Basically what I said earlier, so.....yeah, me too. So see? You should bust this dude out.

Something doesn't add up quite right.

How do you have the knowledge that the extra money is used for groceries, etc.? "A guy I know asked..." Doesn't sound like "a close friend of mine" - thus how do you know the details of their spending habits?

Sounds more like a hypothetical problem posed to us than an actual problem.

Hypothetically, I'd turn him in via a letter to the post office (address provided above). I would include in the letter how you acquired the knowledge. And, I'd put a cc: at the bottom to let them know I was forwarding a copy to Netflix as well.

To the "I'd do nothing" people, let's phrase the situation slightly differently:
"The mailman has been ripping off my friends and neighbors for about a year now, but they don't know he's the guilty person. He's stolen hundreds of DVD's from them. What should I do?"

I can understand not wanting to get involved if it only involved one or two people... but this is hundreds of counts of felony violations.

Turn him in.

Netflix can b1tch to the post office all they want, but until the P.O has some clue about where the thefts are taking place, they can't do squat.

Actually, the consumers are losing too, I'd turn that bastard in for mail theft, but hey, I have my doubts about this story.

Bullshit.

The correct term is Shens.

And I would imagine Netflix would know about this. If a dvd gets lost you have to fill out a form. If they lost boxes of DVD's out of the same post office you would think they would figure it out.

Incorrect, shens is too mild in this case.

Your friend's father didn't touch you in a way that made you feel funny, did he?
I'd suggest you stay away from that place until Dad goes to jail.

For those who may be thinking, ahh fvck it, it's Netflix, they can afford to eat that loss, please remember that these costs are being spread across all netflix users, AND INNOCENT MEMBERS MAY BE STUCK WITH THE BILL FOR "SUSPICIOUS ACCOUNT ACTIVITY".

That is what I was thinking but would netflix get suspicious if they were like missing a couple thousand movies not from one customer but all from one area.

I would report the asshole but do not approach him on your own he may go postal ;)

They're 20 and 16. The 16 year old would probably be put into the custody of Texas DFPS until he's 18. As for the 20 year old, he should be able to support himself unless he's disabled in some way.

I see how it's easier to be apathetic, but it's not going to work. I don't care if he only stole one movie, it's still a crime.

(This is all based on the idea that this thread is not bullshit.)

Then get all the parents who rape, steal, and murder out of prison so they can teach their children how to make a living

Rats? You really are a moron. How would you like it if your movies were consistently stolen by some punk USPS worker and then were charged for the movies that went missing through no fault of your own?

I hope if you don't turn him in the mods ban you from here permanently, and your entire IP address range as well. I can only hope. If you don't report someone for committing a federal crime, that is.

I think that if they're that hard off, all the boys should be working. Hell, the 20 and 22 year olds aren't even in high school anymore. They have no fvcking excuse for stealing and fencing from the USPS.

It all comes down to this: as a society, we must hold people in certain positions to a high level of integrity. Doctors must not do harm to their patients, police officers must not abuse their power, and the postal service must not employ those who steal mail from the public. I don't care what sorry assed excuse he has, it is unacceptible ALWAYS and must not be tolerated EVER. If people who do this get slapped on the wrist or everyone covers up for them, then the problem will spread. We put our trust in the USPS, they should do everything in their power to keep that trust.

Thankfully there are enough people who do give a sh!t and will try to put a stop to this completely inexcusable behavior.
