Not really, one of Netflix distribution centers is right here in Houston. Not only that, you must also understand that Netflix movies are cross shipped from one Distribution Center to another. So, for ie: Guy in Dallas wants movie, Dallas dist. center does not have it, Houston does so it leaves houston. Guy returns in mail, it may go to Dallas distribution or Houston center.

But trust me.... I saw at least 400-500 dvds in these boxes. Many were repeats. Either way.... he had a lot.

Don't see whats so hard to believe. He's been doing this for 2 yrs.

this poll should have included an age range. I bet most of the people buying the stolen dvds are under 15 years of age.

if it was me though, id be buying them movies for $3

Why's that? Stolen dvd's for $3, ok so... then when he gets busted he'll finger you. Then when you're both in federal prisons, both of you will get fingered.

I wouldn't turn him in. But I'd tell the son to stop being such an idiot telling people where the DVDs are coming from. And they really need to get rid of the netflix wrappings.

He supports his kids, so it's a tough call, but at the least I would send him an anonymous letter letting him know that it's a felony to be doing what he's doing and he should know better and to stop immediately.

when i read the title the first thing that came to my mind was turn that sucker in. but then reading the last part of your post about how the extra money goes to grocery etc., i can't help but to say let it be, or warn them. on the other hand, correct me if i'm wrong, would you not be an "accomplice" if you don't turn him in since you're aware of what's going on and you're not reporting it? it's a tough situation you stumbled upon...

Motherfvcker!!! I have 3 dvds lost in the mail, i bet you they were stolen too just becasue netflix use those "hey look at me, I'm a dvd" envelope.

turn this bastard in, this mailman's behavior is teaching his own kid that stealing is fine when he grows up. we don't want a second thief in the future. don't give me this bs, that he needs to steal to live... what did he steal before netflix? other people's packages?

If this were a cop and the DVDs were evidence from the evidence room, there would be a 99% "turn him in" vote with one guy voting "no" just to piss everyone else off. He is a trusted person and is violating that trust badly. I would probably turn him into Netflix rather than tht post office though. They're the real one's losing here.

The correct term is Shens.

And I would imagine Netflix would know about this. If a dvd gets lost you have to fill out a form. If they lost boxes of DVD's out of the same post office you would think they would figure it out.

Grow a pair why don't you.

Do you really think the mailman is going to come hunt you down because you told the feds he was stealing mail?

Besides, if they've offered them to you they've probably offered them to others. How would they know it was you?

I tend to think this story is BS anyway, I think Netflix & the USPS are buddy-buddy enough to figure out that hundreds of DVD's are disappearing out of one sort facility & start an investigation.

I don't know about that. I heard stories of people "going postal..."

If you take that attitude, then don't EVER b!tch again about not getting a rebate check...

If he'll steal DVDs, he'll steal other things too. A thief is a thief, plain and simple.

Maybe he should have read this...

On June 14, 2002, a former mail handler at the Tampa, Florida, Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) was sentenced to 18 months in prison, three years' supervised release, and restitution of $21,295 to Netflix, Inc., an online DVD rental company that mails millions of DVDs to addresses throughout the country. After numerous complaints from Netflix about missing DVDs that customers claimed they had mailed back to the company, Postal Inspectors identified the postal employee in November 2001 for the crime. Inspectors recovered thousands of the company's DVDs while searching the subject's vehicle and residence, with losses exceeding $100,000. As a result of this investigation, Postal Inspectors are now working closely with Netflix on a national level to increase mail security.

That and loss of a good job (and pension I think) that people fight to get, should really help with those grocery bills...
