The game is great, totally worth your time.

But totally not worth the money. Developers need to understand that people will not pay $50 for a game with no multiplayer that will give you 10 hours of game play. If they wanted to actually sell this game it should be priced at 19.99 or 24.99 at the most.

An amazing multiplayer game, sure you can charge $60 for it. Look at BC2, I pre-ordered it at $60 and put around 160 hours into it according to Steam. See game devs... that's worth my money. Until they get pricing straight, piracy will continue to exist. Good thing it won't be long until Steam bundles this with another 10 games for $30 lol.

I never played the first, but after initally seeing the thread here about it and then checking out the vids, screen shots and GS review I'm now downloading it through Steam.

Reviewers are biased, how can they not be? But unless a site has no rep then there's no way you can't learn a thing or two about a game's mechanics by reading a review.

Mafia 2 sucks. Look on their forums. They are banning and locking threads like crazy.
I'm pissed I bought the collector's edition. They cut so much shit out of the game. And are now trying to sell it as DLC, what shit is this?

Everyone rent the game, don't buy it.

I see barely any locked threads on their forum. Return it if you don't like it (then again, with PC games, that is near impossible).

EDIT: Wait, reading on of those threads, apparently PC users don't get car customization like PS3? Such as flames and superchargered engines? What the shit?

Even if the game is great, and I'm not saying it isn't, I'm glad I'm holding off for a sale later on. Even if the game gives a solid 20 hours of game time for the average player $50 is too much nowadays. Developers or publishers, whoever determines the pricing, are really stuck hard on the $50 price tag for a new game no matter how good it is or how long. New game pricing needs to be rethought in my opinion. Then again, maybe I'm just getting too spoiled by STEAM, D2D, and etc., discount offers this last year?

The game looks like shit on the consoles. They have to lure the buyers away from the PC version somehow. I want to play the game, but I'm gonna wait until the price drops and all the DLC is available on the PC before I buy it.

More then that.

No Jimmy dlc

No flames or supercharges

They plan on adding it as DLC, and charging for it.

They ruined such a good game.
Plus a ton more

Look on the facepunch forums in the mafia 2 thread.

People are going into the files and reenableling a ton of stuff like the customization, freeride, and whatnot.

The game use to have a ton more stuff to do in it. But they took it all out. Like side missions, reading newspapers, gun licenses. They took out atleast 10+ missions that were completed. Not to mention they changed the level from the demo, by removing the bridge scene. It's complete BS.

They locked and banned most of the people by now. Look a few pages back. There were a TON of negative threads. They are trying to silence everyone.

Melee weapons,
usable taxis,
Picking up objects like stools, chairs.
A TON of stuff.

Actually, you do get the Jimmy's Vendetta DLC. Now that I read, the things for the garage seem to be for the Jimmy packs...so that makes sense. Little, but some.

I know they took out a lot that could have been in, but I still think the game was worth my cash, and I'm happy I plunked the money down for the CE.

We don't get the betrayal of jimmy. And shit we have to PAY for stuff that's already in the game files. That is BS.

Games have been ~$50 since the NES came out in the 1980's.

Why, did welfare checks get reduced? Seriously, $50 is less the one full shift at minimum wage. FFVI was ~20 hours at minimum wage when it came out. Gaming costs have been reduced significantly in any honest measurement. Also- Wii Fit sold over 20 Million units at ~$100 a pop. $50 is not too much for developers to charge, not even close. If you can't work one day to pay for a game(at minimum wage mind you- in no way am I saying anyone should be making $500 an hour), perhaps you should consider another hobby or better yet, get a second job. Perhaps a paper route? A couple weeks of that should cover the cost of a game.

Games have been ~$50 since the NES came out in the 1980's.

FFVI cost me $90 when it came out, many cart based games were $75 and up- and back in the early 90s students were paid quite a bit less then they are today.

Which is stupid, we are only getting half the dlc.

...have you no idea what exclusive DLC is? There is absolutely no reason to be mad at 2k for this. Be mad at Sony if you want to be mad at someone, but you are getting DLC promised, and the Betrayal of Jimmy never was.

Games have been ~$50 since the NES came out in the 1980's.

More than that. And you couldn't even save those. D:

Waiting for it to be $25. I've replayed the demo several times now, but I can't pay >$35 for any game.

I'm onboard with all you guys. It's not a $50 game. It's a beautiful game, but how can a game with such an open environment be so linear. I was expecting side missions and what not, and so far it's just been drive here and shoot him, then drive back and pick up so-n-so, and so on.

I'm only on chapter 11, does it open up down the line?

This is the problem with DLC... all those "side missions" you used to get in games now cost you $10 as DLC.

Oh crap. So it's true? The world really is going to end in 2012? I mean Duke Fornever was supposed to come out by the end of the world.

I guess I'm use to the dlc situation; I'm coming from console gaming to pc now. But atleast in the past the dlc added MORE side missions or chapters to what was already available.

Mafia 2 (so far up to ch.11) doesn't have ANY side missions.

There are no side missions in Mafia 2. Still, on hard, I managed to get 16 hours of fun out of it.
