Because he doesn't take care with where he is going on the internet or he opens programs he doesn't know what they do, etc.? It probably doesn't help that he's running multiple AV's which most likely fuck each other all up so that they don't work.

And why does he have to run it all in the first place? Well he doesn't really have to.

I don't have any problems. My system is perfectly fine and there is nothing on it that I don't know about. I could easily install some AV/anti-spyware stuff on here and do a full scan and I guarantee it will have nothing to report.

Yes he does cuz he ends up with virus' and spyware, cuz he's a normal windows user.

I agree with your assessment that they probably fuck each other up, but he probably installed them all cuz he was tired of getting malware.

Seriously? Any synaptic trackpad can be used to do 1 finger scroll.. It has a dedicated scroll zone. B in the image below.

i wouldn't know cuz my Dell doesn't have that, only 2 finger scroll, and my Dell before that NO trackpad scrolling.


Doesn't matter cuz both are inferior to OSX 2 finger scroll.

He doesn't NEED it. He needs to change his usage habits more than he needs AV software.

And why would you want it to be anywhere else other than the edge? So that it's more likely to interfere with your normal cursor navigation? 🙄
And I'm not saying that you can't scroll on a non-Apple trackpad. I'm saying it's much better with one. And diagonally scrolling? Not going to constantly go back and forth between two different linear paths making micro adjustments.

My point was that I can use Exposé without having to use the keyboard, but, anyway, Windows Key + Tab is absolutely atrocious—the windows are in front of other, blocking content. And the taskbar is clunky when everything starts combining.

Notice that "Window Key + Tab and click on application" and "Alt + Tab + click on application" requires both hands to be attached to your laptop. I can accomplish the same thing lazily on a MacBook with just one on the trackpad.

Well if you download unscrupulous programs and blindly run them, then who is at fault? The computer? You told it to do that.

Within REASON he should change his usage habits. Getting malware and viruses all the time is crazy - I just don't understand how people do it.

It's possible, but it's so remotely unlikely that you could circumnavigate the internet without encountering malicious software, that it's not even worth considering. it's like saying you could run through a forrest with your eyes closed without touching a tree.

I'm saying I have no issues with how my trackpad works on my laptop and have no need for it to do anything else.

My taskbar doesn't combine anything and is hardly clunky. One click and I have the program I want. What's so hard about that?

Nope it doesn't. Also I rarely have to side scroll on anything. If I'm browsing the web I usually just need to scroll up and down.

No, it's not like that at all. It's very simple to browse the internet and have no problems with malicious software. I do it on a daily basis. Of course I don't go to warez sites and hack sites and unscrupulous websites either.

You just Alt + Tab or Win + Tab.. there is no clicking involved.

I don't understand that though. What would lead you to download some random program from some website and run it? I would only run programs from a site that I knew and trusted.

You're preaching to the choir, but that is the reality of the situation - people do it ALL THE TIME.

Yet, windows users always bitch about malware and OSX users rarely. Why?
 
I don't like the Apple Trackpad. It doesn't work all the time. You have to get the gestures perfect for it to work. Plus saying OSX doesn't require any fiddling and just works is retarded, it crashes just as much if not more than Windows 7 does because you get dumb people that don't know anything that put crap on their Macs and crash them and you never get the latest hardware with Macs unless you buy a Pro which is INSANELY expensive. Sure you get good battery life but as we've already talked about in other threads, there are many non-Apple laptops that get the same or better battery life. If you like it more power to you but it's definitely not better.
