And I'm only saying that because I'm green with envy!!! Damn I wish I had the kind of jang to afford a Mac! That new G5 is just absolutely SICK! What a helluva machine. Ok, time to quit daydreaming and get back to reality. Until I'm a millionare I guess I'll just have to stick it out for a while with my old PC and a cheap Mandrake wannabe hack of that beautiful OS X (drool...😛).
 
Maybe you should read some of the REAL reviews on the G5. Apple messed with the benchmarks. It's not nearly as great as they make it out to be.

It's not nearly as bad as the site that said the benchmarks were rigged makes it out, either. They talk about using GCC instead of an Intel compiler in the intel machine. The intel machine was running linux. Go ahead and poll linux users on here, find out how many of them use GCC, and how many use an intel compiler. it'll be pretty close to 100/0 in favor of GCC.

Then they didn't enable SSE2. Hardly anything actually uses SSE2. It's technology that isn't used very much yet. Hell, the entire standard distribution of RedHat is compiled to run on a 386. It doesn't even use MMX.

Also, the benchmarks were not performed by Apple. They were performed by Veritest, who does almost everyone's benchmarks.
 
Personally, I'm not a fan of the styling on the new G5. I'm not sure what it looks like more: A giant cheese grater or a big speaker box from an intercom system. Either way, I'm just not digging it.
 
The new G5 can run both of it's available programs fast! And oh my god, the peformance of DOOM II is teh r0x0r.

I'm gonna go get one! 🙂

Maybe someday, when Mac-haters shut their mouths and open their eyes, they will realize that.

The G5 isn't ship for another few months, and by then some thing faster & slicker is going to come out to bait you into upgrade.

When Macs run more than 3 applications get back to me. When Macs are not a super huge ripoff get back to me. In fact when Macs are as good as PCs get back to me. 🙂

Not all graphic designers uses Mac. Apple core uses Mac and love it. People in IT uses what ever available at hand, be it a Windows, Mac, Linux or Unix. And, some still are hanging on to their be love Amiga.
