No one's going to laugh at you. We all love ya! :)

It does show that Ornery's not just a mean old codger trying to hurt everyone's feelings. I think Napalm owes him an apology.

So, go ahead and have a good laugh at the stupid girl whose nipple got infected from a piercing.

Not hardly, that's not what we're here for.

Glad to hear you're all right.

Glad to hear its nothing bad, hope everything is cleared up for you soon.

Onrey may be right, but either way when someone has serious medical concerns its an inappropriate time to be preaching one's personal philosophy on piercings. A simple "I'll bet its an infection from the piercing" would have worked just as well.

BDawg, you are way wrong. I am a mean old codger who has issues with you young whipper-snappers. The biggest issue is with the nit-wits and their bumpin' car stereos. :|

I don't like the baggy pants, backward caps, rap, purple hair or even piercings. But feel free to tell me to shove off. It's a free country, do what you want of course.

I didn't mean to come down on ToolGirl at all. I didn't think her piercing friend was being straight with her, though. Should have made that clear on my first post. My own bios against piercing probably got in the way. My apologies, ToolGirl. I wish you and Napalm a long and healthy, happy life with many spirited debates in the future! ;)

<< Napalm owes him an apology. >>

Apologize for what part of it? For me criticizing him when he incorrectly thought he knew more from a brief search on Yahoo or whatnot, than a person who has spent hours and hours reading about the subject from a variety of sources? <insert sound of game show buzzer here>

For me criticizing him for incorrectly thinking that her piercer was some dishonest lowlife more interested in a few extra bucks than the health of her patrons? <insert sound of game show buzzer here>

Or perhaps for me speaking a less than pleasant manner to somebody who made sarcastic and insensitive remarks about my girlfriends potentially serious medical condition? <insert sound of game show buzzer here> If he would have been supportive and pleasant like almost every other person in this thread, instead of making biased, callous remarks, he would have saved himself a lot of trouble.

Napalm:

But he did take the time to look into it more than the other well-wishers (including myself). Perhaps he lacked diplomacy in his postings but I would rather have a harsh guesstimate than a boatload of benign well-wishers. Its normal to overact and immediately think cancer but he was on the record with infection call.

Well ornery was right in criticising the piercer early, but for an issue that could be very serious he certainly lacked any kind of tact and delicacy that he should have had. Ornery made a half hearted attempt at an apology, I think napalm you should calm down :p But you definately shouldn't be apologizing for caring about your girlfriend when she needs you.

Well, I breastfed my kids, and that gave me an infection also. Maybe I should go on a spree warning the others of the perils of breastfeeding? ;) Seriously though, piercings get infected all the time, it happens even when you take the best care of them. It does not matter whether its a nipple or an ear, its just one of the risks you take. I am just glad its nothing serious toolgirl, so you can relax now. :)

almost every piercing i've seen done to my friends has resulted in some form of infection , its only natural, you open a wound and don't dress it (neosporin leaves scars) , you're gonna get an infection. belly rings are nasty for months, oozing puss out until they settle. even with care.

its part of the game :)

I once found a lump on my girlfriend, but it turned out to be a clump of oatmeal she spilled from breakfast. Tasty too!

Infection is no laughing matter. Even the smallet infections can turn ugly if not treated properly. Be thankful that's all you have and btw, no one's laughing at ya, we're all glad you're ok ;)

<< So... are you going to remove those piercings now finally? >>

NO!!!
I got antibiotics, and should up the cleaning to twice a day. Most people respond really well to that treatment, so I should too. Unless it really gets worse I'm not taking it out.

Girlfriday said it very well - there's a risk of infection with every piercing, whether it be bad care, the person's body, or simply other factors.

Like I said, this is the first time I have ever had bad luck with piercings.

As for neosporin on a piercing - that might just be your friend's problem - you shouldn't use neosporin on a new piercing. It just clogs up the wound and won't let air on it or let it drain.

My doctor told me just to use a little bit now to clear up the infection.

Thank you guys for all your support. :)
Now I just hope this thing clears up soon - got a check-up appointment on thursday. Unless it gets a lot worse I shouldn't have to go in again before then.

I didn't think infection/cllulitis because the symptoms of an usual infection are redness, swelling, pus, and the area feeling hot. This lump wasn't doing any of the above things. Which I guess is good - I must have caught this in an early stage.

BTW, GF said she got an infection breastfeeding, another person told me last night that she got cellulitis from a scratch on her breast. So there are other sources for this, piercings are not the only evil ;)

tg, go get a second opinion. if you have doubts about the doctor's diagnosis, always get a second opinion. s/he could very well be wrong, and the treatment may not do a thing to it. it doesn't sound like an infection to me by any standard definition, though it could be. i know that you know how to take care of your piercings very well, which is another reason why it doesn't sound like an infection to me, but it can happen regardless of how well you clean, of course. i strongly suggest a second opinion(if my mother has tought me anything, it was always to get a second, and even third opinion :))

good luck :)

Glad it's not too serious, it's always a relief when the doctor comes in and says 'not cancer'. Hope it clears up soon for you.

Toolgirl.......... I'm glad to hear that your 'lump' is nothing more than an infection.

Take care.

<< Well, I just got back. What I have is cellulitis - an infection, most likely caused by the piercing.
So, go ahead and have a good laugh at the stupid girl whose nipple got infected from a piercing.

But before you start ranting about how piercings are bad: This is the only piercing out of 10 that has ever given me any problem despite proper care.
>>

1. the human mouth is one of the dirtiest parts of the body.
2. you pierced your nipple, which is infected.

conclusion, it's napalm's fault =P

*wink* *wink*

Napalm hasn't been allowed to touch my nipples with his mouth ;)

But I am blaming getting my nips pierced on him - so yes, it is his fault :)

Thanks, Buttass
