stop fvcking joking about this!!!!! Anyone making jokes obviously has never seen a loved one scared by a lump before. I'm disgusted that any of you would think to make smart ass comments...

Toolgirl, just relax, it is probably nothing.

I think you should take a dose of your own advice.

So it's almost 1 where I am, hopefully you'll be able to report back with good news before the weekend starts. It'll be ok!! (but don't get too peppy, my cousin has had 2 large tumors since she was 14, (pelvic) but they grew in about 9 months. I am not joking, so people, keep up to date with some sort of at least yearly doctor visits.)

but Toolgirl, yours doesn't sound bad. and yeah when your done, lets get a pic of you smiling with napalm. ok? cause we've seen them not so good photos of you 2 lets see ya smiling together. ;)

<< I put a link in there for her to read. What good are you doing for other people considering getting a kewl piercing? I never hear the other side to these things when they're brought up. Kewl tattoo, yeah, do it! Don't mention how many people regret doing it later. >>

You think she isn't informed about piercings? Get a clue. She's read FAR more about piercings and aftercare then you ever will. She's talked to people that do them, and have them done. Before each of her piercings, she has carefully read everything she could find on that specific type, and recommended after care for it. To say that she is somehow misinformed or ignorant about the situation is an outright lie.

As for telling people about the other side of piercings- you're again completely wrong. "No mention ever of complications etc." That's an flat-out lie again. When people ask about piercings, any honest individual (toolgirl included) will tell somebody both the positive and negative aspects of it. Frankly, the odds of problems with most "basic" piercings is quite slim as long as one cares for it properly afterwards. Most problems with piercings are due to improper care afterwards.

As for her piercer being qualified to make a judgment on it- as I stated before, the piercer has seen thousands of piercings over the years, and has a pretty damn good idea about what could be the result of a piercing, and what isn't. Furthermore, her piercer is a woman, and said that she had something similar once, and that it was not piercing related. YOU have not felt the lump, and clearly don't know the first thing about piercings. For you to be able to say "yeah right" about it being related to the piercing is nothing more than an uninformed, unqualified, ignorant guess that you pulled out of thin air.

I don't know if you'll see my post in between the childish bickering, but good luck, I'm sure things will turn out well. I'll send some good vibes your way. :)

Tell her to put in writing that she'll get her money back if it does turn out to be related. My opinion is that she is slightly biased.

Sorry, more bullsh!t. First off, as hard as it is for you to believe, most piercers actually do care about the people they pierce. No honest piercer would intentionally do a piercing that they knew was unsafe.

Second, the potential for infections and such (even though this is clearly not an infection) is par for the course with piercings. Piercers inform people of the potential side effects of any piercing that they perform. If an individual chooses to go through with it, they accept the potential consequences.

Sorry to hear about your medical worries. We all have a tendency to jump to the ultimate worst conclusion. A headachce is a result of a brain tumor, lumps are a cancerous etc. Almost always it is not what you think!!! But it is good to go for regular physicals and and to go to the doctor to discuss anything else troubling you. I am sure all will be fine. Knowledge is power and you need peace.

Good wishes!

<< Intermission (Tool) >>

Heh, when she sees that, she'll probably be ROFLMAO, regardless of what her nipple feels like. Even though it's a silly, pointless Tool song. ;)

OK, my last post:
  • It may not be common, but it does happen...

I was told that he had run a culture on the fluid and thankfully it wasn't anything cancerous but it had shown up as a particularily bad strain of staph. It seems that by piercing through my nipple I had severed a small vien feeding directly into one of the many nipple ducts in my breast. Even though I had been carefully cleaning the area and keeping it sterile, at some point the area came in contact with staph and it moved into my body through the piercing hole and made it's way into the inflamed duct and well, spread through the delicate tissue quite rapidly.

Get to the Doctor and follow his advice. If he doesn't give you an anti-biotic, I'd get a second opinion just to be safe.

Good Luck!

toolgirl, my sister had a similar problem at the age of 17. It turned out to be a fibroadenome (a harmless tissue formation) and it had to be cut out. The doctors said to her quite a lot of young girls experience this and that it is nothing to be worried about.

You know, its pointless arguing with someone dumb enough to make the poor girl more worried or make her feel bad that it could be her fault, so napalm, ignore it and chill, attend to tg.

edit: instead of chill i wrote chili...must be hungry

I don't know if this will help much, but I recently had a lump appear in my throat practically overnight. Now, I have cancer on both sides of my family, so it was a bit of a concern, but when I got to the doctor, it turned out to be a benign cyst. Apparently, cysts have a way of popping up all at once like that. Anyway, I hope that turns out to be the case here. Best of wishes, TG.

Toolgirl,

From what you've described, there is a 99% chance the thing is benign, esp. at your age. However, you're doing the right thing by going to see the doc for good examination of the lesion.

Good luck.

As said, usually we overreact. Good for you. :)

Ornery was right on the money about the infection. Good call.

Napalm owes him an apology.

Glad to hear that nothing was *really* wrong :)

So... are you going to remove those piercings now finally? ;)
