Thing is, he has time to grow up and possibly get less stupid - especially given this example of cause and effect. They are adults. The 34 year old at the least should have enough sense to foresee what she would be losing. It sounds so much worse when you forget to use the "statutory" in front of the word rape, the above implies it was non-consensual sex when it was very much consensual sex. Depending on when the kids birthday is, and if the women weren't his teachers, it was mere months away from being perfectly legal.

The biggest issue though is its kind of hard to call someone a "victim" when they are bragging about how much they enjoyed being "victimized".

I don't disagree with any of that, just that the boy himself is a victim. At sixteen he's plenty old enough, and teachers are probably less likely to give him a disease or an unwanted pregnancy. Doesn't mean they shouldn't be punished - they broke their trust with the school system and by extension with the parents - just that it isn't as big a deal if the student were female (teenage boys have a LOT less emotional baggage associated with sex, always have, always will) or younger.
