How come Gandalf didn't summon up those eagle thingies to give the hobbits a ride to Mount Doom in the first place. Seems like they could have just flown low to the grown and been at that final destination in a day. And during many scenes how come it was both dark and bright outside at the same time. Like they're fighting in the dark in the city then the cavalry shows up and suddenly it's bright out.
Because the Eagles didn't want to. It's explained in the book. They are their own (intelligent) race and wanted nothing to do with it.

Also Sauron's eye would have spotted them from a mile away, he would've sent 9 Nazgul after them (notice the eagles didn't KILL any nazgul...they just kept them occupied), and the Eagles wouldn't have been able to fight the Nazgul with hobbits on their back or in their talons. It's common sense really.

And what's with all the homophobic comments. Are some of you that insecure? I think they put in the Sam/Rosie marriage at the end just to spell it out for those types...SAM ISN'T GAY

If all you could see was gayness in their scenes you have your own problems quite frankly. Ever heard of brotherly love? How about a father-son relationship?

Sheesh.

Um, if you command an army of the dead why not keep them around for another day to kill all the evil that remained?

because they would've revolted and killed them all, or ran away.

and let me say rotk was better the 2nd time around. probably because the ending didn't see as long cuz i wasn't fooled by the 2 fade to black's or the fade to white (yeah i counted), in addition to the fade to map and final "the end" screen.

gonna go for a 3rd if i go see it with friends @imax =D
I call bullsh*t, what's another day when you've spent ostensibly hundreds in damnation? They'd of done it.

they ran away once they'll run away again. seriously, why is this even being argued, that's how it was in the book, that's how it will be in the movie.

I just got back. From watching it in Harlem. And walking back to my dorm from Harlem.

Anyway, to the movie. After the battle at Minas Tirith, I thought it went downhill after that. The end of the movie took forever... and getting the ring into the lava was so anti-climactic. Well anyway, the entire trilogy together probably (to me) is the best movie ever made.

Honestly though...who gives a sh!t after the ring is destroyed. Everything after that definitely didn't "ruin" the movie, nor even tarnish it. YOU try to end a trilogy like this without pissing at least someone off.

It didn't piss me off... it was just very very boring.
