The point is that it is an ENGLISH show. Was this show made for a Korean audience or an ENGLISH one? If you cant separate these two things you have bigger problems than that.
I totally understand it's an english show and it's geared towards americans.
But this is america it's going to have people from different countries etc.... watching this show.
Hell I'm pretty sure a lot of koreans in Korea watch this show as well.
They could've done a better job with casting..... if they were going to have people speaking different languages.
D00d, you cant seriously be this much of an ass. Koreans are less than 0.5% of the population. Do you think that in an ENGLISH speaking country, with an ENGLISH speaking populace, and an ENGLISH speaking casting director that Koreans, <0.5% of the population, should be catered to so that the "koreans" on TV are "authentic?" Fuck man, you have problems. Were you adopted by a wealthy white couple?
i'm late to the party here, but i just wanted to support isekii's POV. it's frustrating when american shows don't vie for authenticity when portraying other cultures (and Lost is hardly the worst offender). it makes us look arrogant as well as ignorant.
it was pretty amusing, however, to see homercles337 flip out with no provocation.
I'm also late to the party, but I'd like to point out to homerdouche that Jin learning English is a key theme in his marriage to Sun. It shows how he is growing as a man and as a husband. He was kind of a dick when they first got married. If he was speaking English the whole time well, they couldn't have that as a theme now could they?
I'm also late to the party, but I think it's more amusing how isekii has his panties in a bunch over this. Just enjoy the show guys. You don't hear me complaining over how Sayid's Iraqi dialogue doesn't match his english or that they have an Indian actor playing the part. Who gives a crap? There are more important things to analize/argue over this show than the languages that 95% of viewers don't give a crap about. Besides, they have excellent actors playing the foreign parts so I don't give a sh!t where they're from.
i'd hardly categorize isekii's comments as coming from someone who has his panties in a bunch. Lost is a detail-oriented show - people pick apart every scene, every piece of dialogue... why is it suddenly irrational to say that it's dissapointing that some of the korean actors don't actually speak proper korean? how many times have i heard some nerd mention that programming, math, OS's, physics, etc aren't realistically represented in movies and TV?
if we forget about the cares of every 5% subset of the population, then pretty soon you're left with homogenized crap.
