This episode brought the series back for me. Back to the Future ftw! 😀

Also, is it just me or was the doctor on the boat also the guy on the beach on Eli Stone?
 
Interesting that the Black Rock sailed in 1845. Alfred Nobel patented dynamite which was found on the Black Rock in 1867. So the boat didn't sink on its voyage to Siam because it was too soon for it to have dynamite on it.
The story fo the Black Rock isn't finished....

Did you also catch whose journal it was they recovered from the wreck? I could have sworn they said 'Hanso' as in The Hanso Foundation who constructed the island.

Penny's dad must have a connection with the Hanso foundation as he was the one who was bidding on the item. How did Desmond know to go to the auction?

Yeah, it was from Hanso, makes sense of course since they were the first ones on the island and therefore first to discover the wreck
 
This show is all over the road like a drunk. The writers can't figure out one decent plot so they have 500 sub plots instead. First Desmond can see the future and now he is time traveling, I bet next he gets x-ray vision or will be able to fly.

The previous owner of the book from the Black Rock, as per the auctioneer, was not Alvar Hanso, the guy from the original "Orientation" video, but someone with a different first name.
Which leaves open the question of what happened to Alvar Hanso.
Could he be "Jacob"????

 
Great episode, I'm glad Desmond and Penny got to say everything they needed to say without the battery going dead too soon, which is what I kind of expected to happen. This was the first time I was glued to the TV during Lost in a while.
 
Especially the conversation he has with the main character (the doctor guy).

Easily the best episode this season if not ever.

I feel like we actually made real progress this time.

Desmond episodes are the best IMO.
 
So far I'm enjoying this season more then last. Last year got a little too "lord of the flies bloodbath" for me. It's nice to see more focus on the mystery of the island.
 
i guess i need to rewatch the episode because i thought it was bad and didn't really make any sense. it seems like everyone else who watched it is saying that they thought it explained a lot although I was just 😕 after it pretty much.
 
Best Episode EVAR. We learned so much. Here's one thing I found wierd about it though. The conciousness switching from one point in time to another is understandable. It can only be in one place at one time and that's how it was all the way up until the phone call with Penny. But then we see Desmond get the number, switch to 2004, make the phone call, and as he makes the phone call we see 1996 Desmond walking away from Penny's house in slow motion with a smile on his face as if he knew that it worked. I think that was a mistake on their behalf... just pointing it out.

Also, the nose bleeding and convulsing thing. If desmond dies in 2004 will he be alive in 1996 still?
