Climbing Mt Fuji has queues like this, but it's not nearly as pretentious as climbing everest. ill take a vending machine and a toilet every few meters!!

agreed 100%, but I think the unfixable problem with Everest now, is that the time window to summit is extremely limited each year, and can be rather unpredictable within that time frame, so it will naturally make these trips very crowded....because it has come very easy for people to do this and it's not like delaying their trip years out for a less-crowded time is going to make a difference.

I think they need to triple, quadruple, up the cost 10x for these package tours, with vastly more limited time slots to do it. Then allow proper licensed, real mountaineers their own time period and choice of what they need to do it.

Last I recall, the cost for these Everest trains is about $20k per person? The sherpas are clearly undercharging, if the same type of MINO idiots are dropping $250k, 500k to mail their corpses down to the bottom of the sea or fly off into "space" for minutes.

Problem is Nepal want the sweet tourist dollars so they are not restricting people that are not qualified.
 
The more and more we read about this the more crazy info is revealed on how incompetent and cheap the whole project was. I guess his goal was to build the cheapest possible submersible. There was a press conference where someone from ocean gate had to speak and the guy's hands were trembling.

I wonder now if the lawsuits will go after his wife and their estate.
 
This is an interesting video about a father and son who passed on the trip.. even though they were offered it at 150k each vs the 250k price.


BTW did anyone read about how many successful dives the submersible did make prior to failure?

I know. This is why I think the solution of charging the "fair" price into the $100-200k range will work to vastly limit the number of people that can meet that, but still allow enough of the idiots through to keep the same revenue stream going for Nepal.

Plus, these would be the least qualified assholes meeting that price shelf, and maybe we keep losing billionaires in the process. win, win, win.

Cameron said that the sequence of events that he heard about went like this:
1)They dropped the ballast and started back up. This would indicate that they knew there was a problem.
2) communication was lost, and the navy heard something.

Perhaps the early warning system went like this.
"Uh, the monitor just fell off the wall"

Maybe not a bulkhead then but I think its some sort of interior facade. You can see in other images there appears to be LED strip lighting behind it. Unless we’re looking at different areas, I’m not sure where that monitor arm is located

I can’t comprehend they would have drilled into the pressure vessel
