Direct quote from an E7 that just left when asked about whether they do warning shots ...
shoot to kill and thats it brother!!
Fact is that it's at the commander's discretion, my point is that is not the "norm", some do, some don't and if you've been on the ground over there you's also know that SOP changes, we went through numerous revisions of SOPs in a year. It also changes depending on if you are talking about mounted, or dismounted, where you are (OP, check point, patrol, PSG, etc...)
1. ESCALATION OF FORCE: IF US OR COALITION FORCES OR
INNOCENT CIVILIANS ARE BEING ATTACKED OR
REASONABLY PERCEIVED TO BE IN DANGER YOU ARE
AUTHORIZED TO RESPOND WITH DEADLY FORCE WITHOUT
FIRST EMPLOYING LESSER FORMS OF FORCE. Any persons
demonstrating hostile intent or committing a hostile act may be
engaged using necessary and proportional force, up to and including
DEADLY FORCE. When possible, use the following degrees of
force against hostile actors:
a. SHOUT; Verbal warnings to HALT or “KIFF” (“COUGH”

.
b. SHOVE; Physically restrain, block access, or detain.
c. SHOW; Your weapon and demonstrate intent to use it.
d. SHOOT; To remove the threat of death/serious bodily injury or
to protect designated property.
IF YOU MUST FIRE:
(1) Fire only aimed shots. No Warning Shots (See NOTE-1).
(2) Fire no more rounds than necessary.
(3) Fire with due regard for the safety of innocent bystanders.
(4) Take reasonable efforts not to destroy property.
(5) Stop firing as soon as the situation permits.
You should get a clue before telling someone to "give it up", at least PeshakJang can explain what he is talking about.
