BoberFett: we all know no country is perfect and as you know looting is a world wide thing and happens in too many countries,I'm not going to get into a debate over countries etc..because we will all have different opinions and its off topic and also pointless.

Getting right back on topic I was very glad PM banned young people ie what you see in gangs from wearing hoods and masks etc....

Youngsters talk about getting respect however you earn respect by not going around causing damage and looting etc.....

So what? The UK has shown us they'll riot and loot anyway, just for shits and giggles.

Scumbags are scumbags no matter what you do for them.

I'd rather not have a load of honest people that need the safety net disadvantaged because of the actions of idiots.

Its pretty annoying watching Cameron trying to take the credit for solving the problem while pushing the blame for all that happened onto the police.

I heard on the news police took credit for getting back control,I do hope PM reconsiders the police cuts down the road,it would be a very bad thing to do.

The British PM wants to ban facebook and tweeter, blaming both for the riots in his country. Leaders in China, Syria, Libya, and Iran would heartily agree with him.

Mother hands son into police station,http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-14501790 .

A 15-year-old boy who was pictured trying to prise open shutters of a shop in Salford has been arrested after his mother handed him in to police.

The boy was filmed at Salford Shopping City as it was being looted in riots on Tuesday evening.

Police said his mother took him to the local police station and he is being questioned on suspicion of burglary.

I assume only for those actually inciting violence. Of course it's an asinine idea, as there's no way to possibly monitor all of them and know who's doing what. The term pissing on a bonfire comes to mind.

Instead there should be a change in policy calling for immediate and violent response to rioters/looters. I do not ever want to look on youtube again and see cops merely outnumbered 2:1 or 3:1 in full riot gear being chased away by hooligan with signposts, as feared citizenry merely watch on at the ineptitude of their police. Water cannons, sound cannons, stun batons, rubber bullets all are force multipliers and work very well.

To the people that kept saying those scumbags were just protesters, then read this.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-14503227

the driver whose nearly full bus came under attack in Croydon on Monday and a bus service controller in Tottenham who worked with a broken wrist after being beaten up.

Attack working class people and beat up the bus drivers/operators are protesting now? What the hell those folks do to deserve that kind of treatment...beside being busy at work or on the way to work?

The problem with this is that it is a very short step from rioters/looters to peaceful protesters, as can be seen by the police in Canada seeding a peaceful protest with off duty (maybe) officers that start the violence and are then let go when everyone is rounded up.

It has been mentioned already, but the police should also use Facebook and Tweeter to their advantage.

Firstly, its twitter.

Secondly, in a fast moving situation like a riot or violent flash mobs the police probably wont have the time to find out the right accounts to monitor.

And honestly when have the authorities been ahead of the youth in using technology?
