It will be more difficult to get a hold of the situation with the start of the protests, but once everything is calmed down (through the protests losing stream, being crushed, or toppling the government), the issues can be addressed by opening dialogue with community organizations and individuals in strong social positions.

Maybe that is what the Queen will see if the protesters manage to gain control of an armory.

I didn't think Iran let a lot of organizations in to monitor its regime.

Just because they don't doesn't mean that the British regime should not.

I wouldn't be surprised if Obama issues sanctions against the UK. He has a strong dislike for their regime, and this is an opportunity for him to express it. The shame to the British from the American-issued travel advisory might just be the beginning.

Thanks Doc.

Looks like the worst is over in London, last night seemed pretty calm in comparison to the previous ones.
Hopefully the other cities will calm down now as well.

The Met are starting to release pictures of the people they want identified, it'll be good if there are some decent prison terms given out.

Great. This topic is too important to be derailed by the eurobashing broken records.

Wounded officers
Some 111 Met officers have suffered injuries including serious head and eye wounds, cuts and fractured bones after being attacked by rioters wielding bottles, planks, bricks and even driving cars at them. Five police dogs have also been hurt. -BBC

Any reports of injured looters yet?

 And with your prison system's focus on rehabilitation, hopefully those that go to prison will be made to learn the error of their ways and that protesting and rioting is not acceptable in the UK.

Frankly I couldn't give a shit if they get rehabilitation or not. It's not like they didn't know what they were doing was wrong they just thought they could get away with it.

And demonstrating is fine, burning the place down and nicking everything isn't.
