Before we get onto this I take it you've realised that the law in the OP is usually used against white racists and that you're a dumbass?

I'd need to see the numbers, I would not be surprised at all if it disproportionately targeted minorities. Moreover, the discriminatory nature of the royal family still remains.

If the UK was serious about getting rid of discrimination, then it needs to remove the official capacities of the royal family.

You seem very nationalistic.

You should have looked the numbers up first, you wouldn't have made an idiot of yourself then.

You seem very deranged.

It's a thread called "Let's discuss the British Monarchy" knock yourselves out. Use that thread instead of this one.

You should calm down. Why do you think that you get so worked up over a discussion on discrimination?

Anyways, I think that international organizations should very closely monitor the UK application of this law to make sure that injustice will not be perpetrated by UK authorities.

 I'm not worked up at all, I just find you amusing.

Any particular organisation? You could write to them, try not to use the green crayons this time though.

Various human rights organizations, maybe the UN can have monitors around in the UK. It would be good to have someone else monitor application of this law, IMO.

And you do seem to be worked up with all of the personal insults. It's very interesting, I wonder why you're so worked up over people talking about discriminatory practices in the UK. Do you consider yourself to be very nationalistic?

Those signs are legally valid, they mean nothing, it doesn't matter if they were joking or not...
Does not compute.

We have free speech, we also have freedom from speech, which is equally important
As was pointed out if a group can prohibit another's speech then you don't have freedom of speech.

No, we are ahead of you, that just allows you to specify a crime related to sexual orientation, ours limits speech.
Aside from the fact that the US has, and has had for several years, many laws on the books that criminalize actions taken against others because of sexual orientation including potentially offensive speech in certain environments (like the workplace) to state that a full-on ban is "progressive" is asinine. The US specifically prohibits full-on bans because to do so would be to regress as a society (see: Westboro Baptist Church and 8-1 USSC ruling).

Religion doesnt equal race.

That's not true in at least one high-profile circumstance: "Jewish" is almost universally accepted as both a religious identity as well as a racial identity.

Seriously you should write to them, get back to us with the reply.

What personal insults? I've called you a dumbass and deranged, I think I was being quite polite really.

What has nationalism got to do with you being a dumbass?

Sorry I meant "Not legally valid"

In that case no where in the world has freedom of speech.

Actually America doesn't have freedom of speech, you can't shout fire in a crowded place or threaten someone or anything like that.

I'm not sure if writing some sort of letter would have much impact. More serious action is needed since those in power who support discriminatory practices will not give up their power so easily.

I'd say said said fundie Muslims should garner support to legislatively fight the hate crime laws suppressing them, much as the US gay population is doing (albeit with a different set of laws), and as the US black population did before them. I'm not entirely up on the UK political system, but at least here in the US there are avenues for regular people to change things. Get enough support and Joe Schmoe can put a law on the books.

Bottom line is as long as the law does a fair job of representing the will of the people and provides reasonable avenues for it to be changed I support rule-of-law and its enforcement. I fail to see how this is bad.

I'm pretty sure (know) that the UK uses a representative form of government, and have not heard of any great opposition to these kinds of anti-free speech laws from its people.

Maybe if you didn't use the green crayons they might listen more?

They aren't keeping the sharp objects away from you again are they?

I've never written a letter to address UK discrimination, so I haven't used green crayons.

You have a very typical nationalistic attitude. This is very common among Europeans. If you refuse to acknowledge problems, then you will never fix them.

Try not using crayons at all? If they will let you use a pen under supervision all the better.

Oh and Europe isn't a nation.

I know that Europe isn't a nation. I was describing a type of behavior that is very common among Europeans, where many of them are very nationalistic for their own nation.
