You realize those two are basically incompatible right? If someone has the right to censor your speech because it offends them then you don't have free speech. You don't have free speech. You have the right to utter politically correct approved speech.

Free speech doesn't exist in any nations as far as I can see.

What makes you think that a "minority" (nice phrasing by the way, its like 60s Alabama. Lets just lump all those non white folks into one big group) can't become a member of the royal family?

Don't respond to him, he is a delusional xenophobe.

The royal family is pretty racist in itself, but moreover there are also religious requirements to be the head of state. If you think that the UK establishment would ever allow a minority to be the head of state and 'pollute' the inbred line, then you are truly delusional.

That's the thing, from what I read these pamplets were advocating the death penalty for gays. That's a legal function of the courts, so what they are proposing is a change of the laws to suit their views. That's little more than a political opinion.

Now if the pamplets read: "Go out and kill yourself a lovely human!" then by all means arrest them, but unless they are directly advocating or commiting criminal acts then I fail to see the problem.

Here in the USA I could literally submit a bill to my congressman that all non-white males should be imprisoned or killed by law, and I could rally support on that basis. In the UK I'd be put in jail.

So... you're ok with extreme political beliefs only if one attempts to mandate them?

In some cases it is a proxy for race.

Seriously, the establishment and mandate of the UK monarchy is a hate crime in itself. How come this hasn't been taken down, but instead a bunch of minorities are simply being targeted? It's very suspicious.

No, I'm ok with extreme political beliefs so long as they don't advocate breaking the law to accomplish them, at least in the US in its current form. If one day rule of law decays or whatever then that's another issue.

You managed to advocate something worse than HAL. Or at the very least, equivalent. Now that "the law" forbids what you described as a call for political action (that's giving fundie Muslims too much credit but ok), what problem do you have?

Don't care about this hate speech thing, but "gays deserve death" is surely going to earn brownie points for Muslims in a continent that is already gearing up against them.

Well done! *clap clap*

I'd say said said fundie Muslims should garner support to legislatively fight the hate crime laws suppressing them, much as the US gay population is doing (albeit with a different set of laws), and as the US black population did before them. I'm not entirely up on the UK political system, but at least here in the US there are avenues for regular people to change things. Get enough support and Joe Schmoe can put a law on the books.

Bottom line is as long as the law does a fair job of representing the will of the people and provides reasonable avenues for it to be changed I support rule-of-law and its enforcement. I fail to see how this is bad.

No in this case you're a dumbass because you don't know what your talking about.

I respectfully disagree. If the UK was serious about combating discrimination, then it would remove the royal family from any official positions. Stop supporting a discriminatory institution.

I realize that you disagree, but it's very common for those in the majority and are fine with discrimination to want to see discriminatory institutions survive. Change is a difficult thing for many to accept.

Please for the love of christ do not argue with him, this is derailing my thread I wanted to talk about hate crime not his monarchy delusions about discrimination and that crap. Please.

Before we get onto this I take it you've realised that the law in the OP is usually used against white racists and that you're a dumbass?

That's stupid, you're stupid. What does being a minority have to do with it? Anyone can be made a minority depending on your fucking criterion.

Lots of swearing and insults in that post, quite unnecessary.
