Living alone in apartment

When I was in graduate school I lived in a 1900 sq/ft house all by myself that I bought because renting in the area was actually more expensive for the quality of house I owned. It was really nice living by myself with all that space. The house was always clean so impromptu guests or parties were not an embarrassment. Friends are always a short time away if you get lonely. I actually prefer living by myself.

I had my fill of roommates for a few semesters. I don't want to do that again. Ever.

I got an apartment by myself, and it's effectively like renting a house, at least with the place I got. My biggest issue with it right now: The insulation sucks, assuming there even is any.

Pros: No roommates.
Cons: Pricier. But so very worth it.

I live alone in my apartment(third) and I wouldn't have it any other way. My second apartment, I lived with two other roommates. I ended up being one who did on the cleaning, the dishes, etc. One of them pretty much lived in his room, living off Pepsi, and played WoW.

roomies are BS for adults most of the time.

If you are sharing a shithole in BFE, you probably need to accept your hand dealt in life. If you are sharing a 3/2 on the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, Great lakes, Pacific or within a 10 min walk of any hot downtown spots in the NYC, LA, Miami, Chicago, etc areas you are probably profiting.

Had a room mate when I first moved out, lasted a year. Lived on my own for a few years then made the great mistake of getting married. That lasted 8 years. Been divorced for 16 years. I find I'm much happier living alone, when you're the captain of your own ship it's hard going back to being the crew.

When I was 18 I did it. Within 6 months I got a roommate. Its terrifyingly lonely in a town where I knew noone and had barely enough money to afford the place. I went crazy. Seriously. I saw a shrink. He told me to get a roommate. I did and it fixed everything. Ever since then - I've lived with at least one other person (mostly my wife now LOL).

I live with 7 flatmates. I like it a lot for the social aspect, but it gets annoying when others don't pull their weight to keep to place reasonably clean, etc.

I want to live with friends next year, though, since I didn't know my current flatmates before moving in.

When I moved out I lived with 4 other roommates then moved to a town where I didn't know anyone. That sucked.

I am now back to my home town and its only fun when I'm out with the people I used to know ( I was only gone for a year so nothing devastating ). That being said, I'd prefer roommates up until my spouse / spouse to be moved in.

I had a single dorm room for a year in college. It was only OK because it was in a dorm and people would be coming over all the time.

I think now though I enjoy living with roommates. I can afford to live by myself, but I like living around other people.

I live alone in an apartment..for another week. Then I'm moving in with my buddy (he has a huge house all to himself). For me, it doesn't really make too much difference, however I wouldn't want to live with roomates for more than 2-3 months at a stretch 😛

If you are really choking you have enough time to call 911. My guess is your roommates wouldn't know what to do anyway. I'm not bragging but I've had to do it on other people 3 times to save their life. Every single time people looked at me confused as I took action.

You can also perform the Heimlich on yourself if nobody is around to perform it.

My Dyson is the perfect height for standing on a chair and jumping onto for a self-Heimlich. I imagine it would work quite nicely.
